…. anyway.
looking forward to finding out more.
shouldn’t be long now.

Maybe we will see some granular synths in the spirit of Absynth, using the Kontakt engine. Wouldn't be impossible.

Doesn't that already exist, in part with Time Machine ans TIme Machine 2 ?

I am curious, what do people expect at this point from the sampler behemoth such as Kontakt 7?

It is a genuine question. I am not a power user and to me, Kontakt's capabilities seem overwhelming and fully complete. So I wonder what people expect from it?
ADDED New NKO file format allows saving and loading sound sources. The NKO files contain references to multisamples and wavetable, zone maps, sample settings, and source panel settings. New sound source selection controls and browser integration are provided for quickly selecting sound sources without changing group effects. Factory Library and Play Series sound sources are available for loading into user-created presets.
ADDED Macro controls to easily control multiple parameters
ADDED Option to route multiple sound sources to single group effect chain
ADDED High quality algorithms to interpolate between wavetable frames
ADDED New instrument-level modulators that can be assigned to parameters in multiple groups
ADDED Option to modulate instrument-level effect parameters
ADDED New mono/legato envelope options with analog style re-triggering
ADDED New unison controls at sound source level. Controls include: Voices, Detune, Mix, Spread, Tuning Mode
ADDED Option to adjust zone volume and pan before signal is routed to group effects
ADDED Dry/wet output controls in all Dynamics, Amps, and Stomps effects at group-level and instrument-level
ADDED New Waveshaper effect can be used in group-level and instrument-level
ADDED A single group output can now be routed to multiple instrument buses
ADDED Stereo modulation for group and instrument effect parameters
FIXED A long standing bug where playing notes would randomly drop out in DFD mode with loop crossfades

I asked what people (community) expect from Kontakt 7, you even quoted me. I haven't asked for Kontakt 7 changelog.

At the moment I record my Juno 6 or other hardware, and just drag the wav into the Studio One sampler and its pretty much ready to play. I want to be able to do the same in Kontakt, and drag and drop from an audio track straight into it with no messing around looking for what you have just recorded in some folder somewhere in the PC.
This is on the DAW developer to sort out. They decide what "drag and drop" looks like to a plugin; the sampler can't load a file if nobody tells it where to find it.

If that were true then Tal Sampler vst would not be able to drag and drop straight from an audio track.

I seem to remember that Waves CR8 vst could also do it when I demoed it. I am baffeld as to why no one else wants this feature as it seems to be pretty fundamental to me. I guess most people do not use a sampler to sampler like I do all the time, but see it as a glorified rompler. If they used it to actually sample in real time they would realize what a pain it is to go hunting around in Explorer for the file you have just recorded, and which is just sitting there on an audio track looking at you just begging to be dragged and dropped.

I am with you, that's one of th things I first try. I did the same when demoing TAL Drum machine, but it doen't support drag and drop from the arrange window, nor was the sidechaininput working, so no recording either under studio one.

Drag and Drop from teh arrange to CR8 work's under Studio One.
