How to get SampleTank plugin to work in Tracktion Waveform?

Waveform 11.5 - free version
SampleTank 4cs - free version

SampleTank is added to a track and when it's midi keyboard is hit, the drum parts sound great and register on the Waveform track's loudness meter.

But when I hit "play" for the midi drum notes on the track, no sound. No loudness meter movement.

If I delete SampleTrack plugin from the same track and instead choose Microsoft Windows synth as output, the midi pattern plays.

Am hoping to elicit a long checklist of things I can try!

Thanks

Alex

First thing to check is that the MIDI channel on the track matches with how you've got SampleTank set up. Make sure they are the same or 'All Channels'

Have faith, it does work as I've used SampleTank with Waveform 11.5

Step #1: Open the Control Panel

That's the thing at the bottom of the interface. It has lots of important and useful controls that update depending on the context of what you have selected. TSC used to rave about its usefulness until they suddenly made it small and mostly useless by default. Some of its functions are duplicated in the Actions tab of the Browser, but I find the Control Panel better.

Now that it's open, when you select a MIDI clip you will see they have a MIDI channel. So if the MIDI clip is set to channel 1 but your Sampletank drums are set to channel 10, the clip's notes won't play anything.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

I just want to make sure alexglaros is aware that MIDI channel is not a property of tracks, but only MIDI clips. Also, neither MIDI clips nor Sampletank parts have an 'All Channels' option that I can see. But in general, you do need to make sure the MIDI channels are the same between MIDI clips and Sampletank parts. (Also your physical keyboard if you have one.)

Many VST instruments just process anything that comes in on any MIDI channel, but because Sampletank has multiple specific parts it's more finicky. For example, 4OSC doesn't care which MIDI channel it gets notes from.

Thanks Pough. It worked!!!!!!!!!!!! "I just want to make sure alexglaros is aware that MIDI channel is not a property of tracks, but only MIDI clips."

What a relief! It is so appreciated.

Thanks a ton!
