yes, i have quite a few 10s of hours experience with 3 different real ones. sadly not mine. id love one though if i was rich. if i outlive my uncle, ill get one with my inheritance

i had the chance through optional lessons at school when I was 13 to learn the early base of synthesis with a real AKS synth and so made my very first patches with it as a beginner, this in 1972

WHICH real thing? This thing is (was?) so temperamental that YOUR real thing would not bring you anywhere near MY real thing.

that's why the plugins are nothing like the real thing.

Behringer has a clone of the VCS3 in the pipeline (somewhere ) so maybe that is good news for you and your uncle. One of their most interesting projects imo.

even then, the way things are going economics wise, im not even sure ill be able to afford behringer prices

Being a long term Jarre fan and also a gear /software nerd I would go with Xils
Samplers do a job but to a twiddler like me they don't cut it.

Didn't see this one mentioned here... IKM sampled this from a VCS3 for Syntronik, so it's not an analog emulation. But it may be of interest to some for the presets and sounds of the VCS3.
