My DAW is full of eels!
I found myself just using some plugins of Kush and now after months of subscribing I'm considering buying just those... Oh the sunk cost effect.

You don't need it unless you record vocals and don't have any good compressors.Aiynzahev wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 5:33 pm Hi all can we have a thread were we touch base with reality a little? I have too many plugins on my radar right now!
Case in point the Softube CL-1b is on sale and I have wanted that for a very long time. Matter of fact talk me about of that and the upcoming Weiss bundle sale.
Silly or serious answers welcome
How do you like NI Crush pack, and, specifically, Dirt?Aiynzahev wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 5:33 pm Hi all can we have a thread were we touch base with reality a little? I have too many plugins on my radar right now!
It's really good. So much variation available in such a simple plugin design and it all sounds so good. NI has a knack for putting out high quality effects with enough creative features while keeping it all stupidly simple to use. For the $20 I spent, total no brainer.
so you start a thread about convincing not to buy stuff, then convince other people to buy stuff!Aiynzahev wrote: Sat Sep 03, 2022 2:04 pmIt's really good. The trick is to buy the right stuff!vurt wrote: Sat Sep 03, 2022 2:16 pmso you start a thread about convincing not to buy stuff, then convince other people to buy stuff!Aiynzahev wrote: Sat Sep 03, 2022 2:04 pmIt's really good. what sorcery is this???
If you add NI Driver to that set as well, then it expands the palette even further. Driver is a bit wacky, but has some great sweet spots.Aiynzahev wrote: Sat Sep 03, 2022 2:04 pmIt's really good. Yes I agree. Even if it does sound very good on electronic sounds most of the benefit of this compressor in particular would be lost on it compared to the other good compressors I have._leras wrote: Sat Sep 03, 2022 5:29 amYou don't need it unless you record vocals and don't have any good compressors.Aiynzahev wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 5:33 pm Hi all can we have a thread were we touch base with reality a little? Even if you don't have an opto compressor, which are great for vocals, you can always use a different type of compressor. There may also be cheaper LA2A emulations that are good enough for cheap (waves/plug in alliance).
You can also micro edit the gain for a more natural effect, which you should do anyway.
Beyond that you can saturate, even in parallel, and/or use an inflator or limiter.
But if you don't have any top tier compressor and you know it will enhance your final tracks, then why not if the sale price is good enough.
I have uad LA2A and it's like magic on vocals and real instruments. This probably similar. Maybe not so much benefit on electronic sounds.
I’m on it.ATS wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 11:59 pm Just do what I did and buy everything till nothing else left to buy, problem solved.
I took an assessment of my NI stuff after years of being disappointed by various things, and the conclusion I came to was that they have a lot of great stuff in their line up. I can definitely still make criticism on various aspects, but there’s also a lot that I use often and love._leras wrote: Sat Sep 03, 2022 2:22 pmIf you add NI Driver to that set as well, then it expands the palette even further. And yes gotta agree NI have been quietly putting out great FX (and synths e.g. superthe past few years, despite how much the get disparaged.

However, "better" in this instance doesn't make a damn bit of difference to the music I make, or if it does, it is negligible. Take a hard look at those plugins, and don't get blinded by the shiny features. Ask yourself, will it truly make a difference to what you create--or the ease and efficiency with which you create it? Only you can decide.
Now, talk me out of Phoscyon 2 and ABL3. I can make nice 303s with so many of the plugins I own, right?
