yep, i know :) but if they release Native Access 3 in maybe 2 years? (they stated Absynth 5 is still supported for 2 years!) then Absynth 5 might not be activateable anymore. just thinking on the long run not for 1 year or so.... who knows, yeah, it is always the same cycle.
Okay, I get it, but it should not be as much of a problem as it was migrating from Service Center to Native Access, as Native Access 2 is fairly new (and Absynth 5 works on it) and I expect that even if a new version comes in future, the licensing system won't change. So, I think there's nothing to worry about. :)

So, do we have a definitive answer on grace periods yet? I've read everything from none at all, free upgrades if you bought during august, and everything in-between. This shit's confusing.

Post

NI support confirmed now there is a grace period. It does not depend on the registration date, but on the purchase date. If you're in the grace period, they need to get a copy of the receipt and then you get a

50% voucher

for the update to K14. Not free anymore, sorry!

You have to contact support for every case to confirm your purchase date to be valid for this. I asked for the 07.09. (yesterday) and it was confirmed to be in the grace period.

So as I have a K13UCE update here for 163€, I still have to add 250€ for the update to 14. So 413€ <> 499€. No, not really, folks. I'll send the box back, stay with my already registered K13UCE and wait for the Summer Sale.

At least they seem to have learned from last year. But not really helpful for the shops selling the old boxes.

But I assume already have K12UCE, so the voucher will work with that. You don't need to wait for the next Summer of Sound sale. :)

Regarding your K13UCE Update, you can either return it or sell it to someone.

But yeah, no free grace period, which is sad.

A pity for the shops who will get orders returned and then probably sit on all the old boxes. Maybe NI will buy them back? It would be nice to have an offical statement by NI regarding grace period changes.

I wonder how many people will pay the full price for the upgrade now, I suspect most who want to upgrade will wait for the next 50% off sale as there just isn't any real 'have to have it now' product included with this year's release...maybe Massive X was the last time they actually had anything people were desperate to get hold of?
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Nope, you wont be able to return or sell it, they want the serial number too.

Just got off the phone to PMT in the uk and I can't return my copy of K13 because they wont accept returns on software. Oh well

Post

it's getting worse and worse and worse at every upgrade....499€ to upgrade my K13UCE to K14UCE for a bunch of samples...totally crazy...no Reaktor update, Absynth adbandoned, no FM8 update, no VST3 version of Reaktor, FM8 etc.
NI is really becoming an increasing delusion every update time for me. Hope i'll still be able to use Reaktor, Absynth, FM8 when the new Native Access will be out :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

For anyone interested in Apple Silicone compatibility of NI 14 software - it is NOT.
According to NI website, it is still work in progress (after 2 years) and will be (potentially) available sometime in forth quarter of 2023 :dog:

I abandoned all NI plugs, there are better options for everything they offer these days.
The delay of updating their catalog to 2012+ standards (HD graphics/resizeablity, and full M1 compability)told me it was over.

All those soundpacks for maschine, which are some sort of constructionkits, I never used any of em. Even though I had the CE at some point. So I had them all. It sounds plastique those expansions. I always used my own samples and lib in Maschine. I loved Maschine, entered with 1.0, had the Maschine Studio and others. But the fact they never implemented any good working midi-routing etc but spamming expansions made me quit that shit. Why would I need some sort of semiDAW as a plugin in Logic? It became bloated and lost focus as a hardcoredrumsampler/sequencer. The MaschineJam was an insult imo.

BTW this soundwide NI PA mixup catalogue BS gives me migraine. Its all over the place...pfft

Lesson: do not speculate on anything. Buy upgrades in sales, but only if its worth it in the state it is. For sure I won’t upgrade until all is M1 native. I still have my Absynth and FM8 and can still use them if necessary… I never was interested in Ultimate or Collector anyway. K7 isn’t enough to make me jump either…
Conclusion: I am happy…

Sorry, but who wants the serial number? I mean you can only return if the box is sealed. If it is opened or you want to keep the box, you can easily resell the serial number. No problem here. :tu:

Native Instruments want the serial before they grant you a discount code. The way things are progressing this year, I would imagine the serial then gets registered to your account and becomes NFR. This is only a guess, but I can imagine it being so.

As far as returns, today I learned that you CAN'T return komplete even if its still sealed, because its software. At least thats PMTs stance on the matter in the UK.
