Do you find a possibility to show all presets in a folder that has subfolders?
The menu before was easy to travel via mouse, now it's clicking subfolder and subfolder up and down.

The ui for me it's 50/50 like it general but I really hate, all the empty space in the FX section, the DAC being hidden inside a tab, the Matrix feels very off (I can't explain why exactly), not a big fun of the envelopes in tabs. Actually as I'm writing I realise it doesn't work for me 100%, so yeah personally I find it not intuitive, and quick to work with, and not very pleasing for the eyes.

Might be an upopular opinion but I like the sub folder navigation, my mouse skills suck too much to use the drop down menu TS used to have. I would get a couple layers deep in dropdown menus and accidentally move the mouse 1/4" off the menu and it would close and I'd have to start over again which was pretty frustrating. Full disclosure.
I got to see it and play with it before it was released.
But:
1) though i have owned tal-sampler from almost the time it eas released, I might have used it five times in total. It never suited my workflow and I have other tools which better suited my workflow.
2) I got it just before I was to travel so couldn't spend much time with this version 4 (beyond find a bug).
But this whole convo illustrates one of the things I feel strongly about and have said it to several developers whom I have interacted with in one way or another.
Do not change the workflow of well established product.
People have gotten accustomed to the established one and anything more than a slight tweak is sure to upset many.
Actually Guitar Rig 6 is the only product I can think of where i prefer the newer version GUI, though NI kept most od the functionality of GR5 and before the same.
My 2 cents.

I found the installer on archive.org so I decided to test the new GUI and after just 5 min I can say that this is probably the worst update I have ever seen, the FX section is just laughable, the chorus has literally two little buttons.
The "All" section has the knobs overlapping with the border which looks horrible.
Hope the developer reconsiders this update, one of the good things about Tal sampler was that you could see everything that was going on in the patch immediately now you have to tab a lot to see what each lfo is doing, etc.
Also it seems that the color personalization is gone.
Incredible, as a TAL Fan this really hurts
I think that by just adding the browser functionality to the old GUI like this would have been better:
Bummer

WHY? It's on the TAL website.
It isn't. It's the same as before (v3.7).

WHY? It's on the TAL website.
Where?
The old downloads section only shows the 3.4 version as the most recent one.

Are you still using MS-DOS? Horrible how they changed it into this Windows thing!zvenx wrote: Fri Sep 09, 2022 7:00 pm Do not change the workflow of well established product.

Quoting you: "I found the installer on archive.org so I decided to test the new GUI..."
From that I concluded that you were talking about the newest version ("new GUI"). And that newest version is found under "Downloads", not "old downloads". (duh)

Yeah I wanted to have a backup of the old version before installing the new one in case I don't like it and want to revert to the old one cause I was already very skeptical just by lookin the previews of the new GUI, but as with anything I wanted to try it and maybe give it a chance cause you know I could be wrong about it.T-CM11 wrote: Fri Sep 09, 2022 10:17 pmQuoting you: "I found the installer on archive.org so I decided to test the new GUI..."

But after minutes o testing I just cant, it feels like a downgrade in usability, maybe one could argue that it looks more elegant and minimalistic but there are details like the knobs overlapping with the border and the huge space in the effect section that really take that away.

On mac i am on os 11 and 12, on pc windows 10.
I don't find them sufficiently different than the versions i used 10-15 years ago.

Yet, compared to 10-15 years, the changes are FAR bigger than "a slight tweak".zvenx wrote: Fri Sep 09, 2022 10:29 pm I spend way more time in my Daw than in my os per se.

And yes, it upset many people - like changes always do! (I'm not saying that every change is an improvement, necessarily)
