Also, in my understanding ENV1 does not affect any OSC individually, but rather the whole audio signal after the FM-section, before the FX-section.

Yep , Ghost's ENV 1 is the master amp multiplier and that's something that is NOT present on traditional FM synths because it wouldn't make sense , and that's what FMR was trying to explain to you .
