Arturia Drumbrute Impact

On Gearspace they are saying there's a serious problem about the kickdrum module that hasn't been fixed after years.

I thought I could still buy one but use the usb midi to trigger a kick in my DAW. Is that possible at the same time as playing the other sounds?

What do you all think about this?

I’d say wait until you find or can afford a box that does everything you want. If you’re going to start using software for the bass drum, you may as well just use plugins or something like a Maschine.

That said, I almost bought a DrumBrute, but I went for an Analog RYTM MK1 instead. I don’t remember any issue with the bass drum module. Demos all seemed to sound very good.

iirc, they changed the drum module on the second model, and some people preferred the old kick.
it's not that it's broken or anything, just not the same as the original.

The Impact ticks a lot of boxes for my first hw drum machine. I can't see anything more suitable for me for the price.

I'm gonna get a Monologue for my first hw synth and my audio interface only has 2 inputs. This Impact is attractive cos it has a single mono output, but also it's a hw drum sequencer which I was always planning to use with say Battery because I won't want the same drum sounds everytime! I hope vurt is right that there's really nothing wrong with the kickdrum.

Does anybody know if I need to worry/think about latency compensation? I use bitwig.

I use Bitwig and a lot of hardware instruments and I don’t notice latency issues. It can depend on your audio interface, though.

I'll be shot for even daring to say this, but the Volca Sample is my no. hw thingy for the last five years. It's really limited but man how fun it is to use and the sound is truly old-school, like with old 12 bit samplers.

OK so i was going to buy an Impact and maybe an RD6 too, but then my friend reckons i should save a bit more money to get the Roland TR-8S which he says will be much more useful for my house/tech-house songs. I was looking at £340 for the Impact + RD6, whilst the TR-8S is another £300.

What do you say about this? :)

I also recommend you to save for a roland tr-8S. If you want to see what it can do, check my signature, the second demo in the vintage drum machines packs is what you need for tech house
