I have the feeling, that Pigments inspires me more for experimental patches than Dune, where I end up something really cool and awesome sounding, but nothing to experimental.

Pigments is super CPU hungry, so for me it would be Dune 3.5

I'm afraid that's something many people simply ignore or don't feel. What inspires you.

E.g., for me, Waldorf Largo is one of the most inspiring soft synths. There are few moments where I do some sounds with it that don't inspire me.

Post

Cool! I didn't hear yet from Waldorf Largo. I will check it out. Thanks :)

And it finished 3.5 each, did they just share the last goal?

Massive X V2
Three Oscs and Two Filters

Lol.

They could easily fit another filter on the current UI. Considering Massive has 2 I'm not sure why they didn't. CPU concerns maybe? That's the only thing I can think of.

Just tried for an hour this synth Dune 3 you are all here talking about, wanted to know why is it so special. And I do not know if I like it. Showcase sounds are really inspiring but cheesy sounding. I guess Dune is more aimed at EDM producers. Even pads had this cheesy new age feel to it. But again, sound quality is very good, big and digitally analog-ish. In general, I liked the sound of it, surprised me, unlike Diva for example.

Now the GUI is well, it is not as bad as some people make it to be. This window in the center is annoying, but functional. But browsing all 8 scenes while making a sound can be time consuming, so Dune 3 definitely is not one of those "quickly make a bass/pad in 30 seconds" type of synths. That's why I wouldn't buy even if it was on sale, though the price is ok.

As for Pigments, meh. I can't even download a demo from my own account inside Arturia's website. I have to enter name, email etc. Don't they already have such information? I hate such annoying business practices. Screw them.

That's a strange assessment.
The layers in Dune reflect it's possibilities, and yet it's so easy use just a single layer, or even a single osc of a layer. You literally select layer "1" and that's it.

For Pigments, I just install stuff via their Arturia Software center, the same way as for NI.
I think you're being too dramatic.

Godin Redline, Kuassa, Fuse Audio, Audiority, Roland A-500pro, Dune, Dagger, TAL, Reaper for Rock & Synthwave pleasures; Viper and FL Studio for guilty EDM pleasures

Having to download additional software to instal another software's demo is nonsense. I may be dramatic, but Arturia is overly protective.

It's not nonsense... it makes sense when a company has dozens of plugins. Arturia has something like 60 synths and FX. It would be pretty tedious to have to download 60 different installers and run each of them. And ongoing tedious to keep track of when one of them has an update.

It just doesn't work out as well for someone like me who only has Pigments... or in your case who wants to demo just one.

You can download the installer for each plugin separately on the Downloads and Manual page, which is found on the support page. Pretty sure you don't need any authorisation to use them as demos.
