After reinstalling Windows 10 i have installed vst's, presets, and sounbanks to their default locations. Before i had custom folders. Now when i load projects, some plugins load with default presets, and it breaks my songs.
When i open edit file in notepad++ there are plugin sections, but the state value is just some gibberish. Is there any way to decode it?

I've had a look at some of mine and the VST changes since VST 1.0 are huge. Back then, there was a choice of a sound bank (.fxb) and that contained a number of patches or programs (.fxp) and the only parameter was the patch/program number.

Looking at the current chunk of parameters, the only way I can think of to get your songs back as they were is very likely going to be the long and maybe tedious job of cutting and pasting the relevant code from your original files into the new .tracktionedit files and altering the file locations where necessary.

This is going to involve copying and pasting every <PLUGIN dot dot dot dot all the way to the next </PLUGIN> from an old file to a new file, and then editing the file locations.

Alternatively, and perhaps easier, you could just edit the new file locations into the old files and then open those in Waveform. Do some trials first to make sure your changes are successful. It does sound like it's going to be a pain in the neck, especially if you have tons of songs with tons of plugins located in tons of alternative locations.

I would suggest you keep a list of plugin locations in a text file or a tab of Notepad++ ready for you to paste in. Maybe do a survey of all your .tracktionedit files and note which plugins appear in which songs.

NOTE: backups of the old files are a must!

Good luck.
