MDrummer has a few tricks up its sleeve as well. ;)

Right now, I'm discovering fun possibilities when you run Dream Machines in "God Mode", i.e. in Edit Mode. Pretty fun rhythmical things can happen when modulating that hi hat's closed and open state with an LFO. Things that you could not do in a more regular drum machine. Plus you can add your own tweaks to the whole Device. Another EQ to tweak certain snare freqs etc. I'm glad they left it so open.

I'm running with the thing as it is - but won't complain about an upgrade either. :tu:

I'm getting more and more used to digging deeper, but it's certainly not for the beginner, or makes for a convincing drum machine - usability-wise.

Glad to hear most are really enjoying the sound of Dream Machines. Unfortunately, due to MSF/MXXX having 6 lanes (in/outs) it is not possible to have more instrument slots. It is also not possible to have samples from a different type loaded into any slot as the maximum number of slots (banks) in a menu is 128.
You can automate the mix slider to change between open/closed hats. Or automate the decay knob. Also for toms, you can automate the pitch and or the mix between samples.
If more functionality is needed then please look at MDrummer. Here the Dream Machines samples are available with many drumsets already programmed. You can create an unlimited amount of layering, choke groups, number of samples etc, it's all in there.

Yes, however I've become attached to the specific juicy processing in DM, which is not entirely straightforward to port to MDrummer. :)

That is unfortunate indeed. How is Dream Machines able to have 6 instrument slots when it's hosted in the stereo output version of MSoundFactory?

I never suspected that the task of emulating an 80's beat box would be beyond MSoundFactory's capabilities. :(

You can use more than one instance, not the most efficient approach, but workable.

That gives me a good idea! I could make a few presets (mixer effects) for MDrummer with the same processing as Dream Machines.

Yes please. :)
I can't lie to you about your chances, but... you have my sympathies.

Would it be possible to make a simple (or no) UI MSoundFactory instrument that is a GM-mapped drum kit, using the Dream Machines samples?

Is it possible to have that many different samples in an MSoundFactory instrument and map them to different keys? If so, I'm kind of surprised that no such instrument already exists in MSF.
