That is incredibly true. I wasted countless hours searching for resonances at 10k only to find out later that this was my tinnitus.benjamind wrote: Mon Sep 19, 2022 4:52 am Kind of hard to remove resonances when your own ears have them, and you have also tinnitus, but anyway, I though I'd play here. I wish there was a plugin for that shit, one that you can plug into your brain LOL.
Izotope or anything else as an alternative to Soothe 2 ?

I'm not into bullshit treatments because I know there is no cure. No cure means that no matter what you do you will still have the problem.Lbdunequest wrote: Mon Sep 19, 2022 5:59 amHave you tried acupuncture? I know a person who cured tinnitus. Mine is a reactive zing and there is also an old style 1990s modem sound chhhhrrrrrrrr. It is especially evident at 6kHz. Probably noise induced since my left ear did get exposed to some very loud and high pitched noises. There is also a slight depression between 3kHz and 6kHz in that ear on the audiogram so that's NIHL by the looks of it. Also that ear started ringing one night whilst watching TV and seem to ramp up over several minutes. Months after the noise exposure too which took me off guard. It went away the next morning and replaced with a reactive hiss that lasted a few seconds.
Hopefully it goes away eventually but it's been like that since March so I guess I'll have to live with it.

acupuncture, in the right hands, is not a 'bullsh*t treatment'. anyway, if it were me, i'd try things to help with such an issue, before simply giving up.benjamind wrote: Tue Sep 20, 2022 8:21 pmI'm not into bullshit treatments because I know there is no cure. meanwhile...
soothe2 is so good. and the stablizer module in ozone 10 advanced is pretty great too (am just learning my way around it).

Its not a bullshit treatment. It worked for my friend, but it took many sessions thro out of half year visits. But it worked now he is back and making music. Anyways good luck, hope it goes away.benjamind wrote: Tue Sep 20, 2022 8:21 pmI'm not into bullshit treatments because I know there is no cure. It probably won't.if I had it.since.March.
I don't know what caused it but my pop pushed me into getting the booster and that's when things started to go to crap. I should never have had it because not only did it not protect me it did harm to me.
At least I know who and what.to blame for this. And it's ain't me.
I thought it was noise exposure. Maybe it was spike proteins. I don't even know if I had COVID because that can cause this issue and guess what? So can the shots!

Easy to find out if you've had covid, see your doc, get the test, get the result, done.

all your theories about 'why' don't matter; dealing with it is the important thing. see a doctor, try acupuncture. trying something is better than trying nothing, and just feeling bad.benjamind wrote: Wed Sep 21, 2022 5:45 am It probably won't.if I had it.since.March.

just my thoughts, of course.
anyway, this isn't the forum for this, and we should get back on topic....

Not if I had it in February 2020. There was no tests available at the time to my knowledge, and by now of course the test will probably not reveal anything because far too much time has transpired since then. Anyway, I won't delve any further, it is off-topic and I'll keep on hoping that this bitch of a thing goes away. It's not loud, but it puts a layer over existing sound and as such it's annoying as hell.

I've had tinnitus for years.
I've mostly learned to tune it out.
It's non-stop now, but in it's early stages it would come and go,
and, early on, be so subtle at times that I really can't identify when it actually arrived,
so useless trying to pick any particular event having caused it.

There is confusion with the word "dynamic" when it comes to resonance suppressors.shapednoise wrote: Sun Feb 19, 2023 8:42 pm GIVE Tokyo Dawn NOVA GE a look. has a great dynamic DeResonate functions
Things like NOVA are dynamic in the sense that they remove resonances based on amplitude.
But dynamic in Soothe means that the resonances themselves are detected dynamically.
In NOVA once you do the Smart OPS analysis the resonances themselves are fixed.

Anyone do a shootout of Soothe 2 versus Stabilizer? I would imagine Stabilizer is geared to the whole mix and not individual tracks such as a soloed vocal, but I really should try it out.Muziksculp wrote: Mon Sep 19, 2022 4:06 am iZotope's Ozone 10 Advanced version has the new 'Stabilizer' Module to deal with Resonances.

Baby audios one is more like DSM3 from ProAudio or Plugin AllianceAndreya_Autumn wrote: Wed Sep 14, 2022 3:46 pm Unfortunately I have to agree. When it comes to taming moving resonances in things like vocal recordings, it seems like it actually is the best. I haven't tried Baby Audio's take on the same idea, people mostly seem to say it's fine but not great comparatively. There are plenty of sound sweeteners like Gullfoss out there (some of them pretty pricey too), and it's been discussed at length here how much these overlap. Generally the verdict is Soothe 2 is unmatched for notching out resonances.
If your primary use case for it is guitar though, there may be other good options for you, depending on what kind of playing you're doing. If the music your play mostly stays in the same key, you're likely going to be dealing with a handful of static frequencies that resonate unnaturally. Very typical scenario: The tune is in G major, and the G and B strings have some overtones that resonate way too loud in the recordings.
In that situation a dynamic compressor like TDR Nova with some narrow bands on the resonances will work great. Yes it takes longer to set up than Soothe would, but it's doable and can sound great. Compare that to a vocal take where the resonance moves to a new frequency every note... obviously in the latter case the dynamic EQ method would require lots of automation. That's what Soothe is for, not having to do all that work by hand.
But whenever the resonances are static frequencies that work really isn't so bad. I personally ended up selling Soothe off, because I found those cases where the resonances move around aren't that common in my work for now. I may pick it up again at some point...
