I switched from Cubase to Studio One in 2010.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

chk071 wrote: Thu Sep 22, 2022 10:08 pm Still a positive balance. :P
I do like both tbh. I enjoy working with Studio One more, for some reason it is more fun. But Cubase has the better polished user experience imo. Studio One always feels a bit all over the place. There is a bit of inconsistency in the UI/UX design.

Fingers crossed they did some refinement work to the browser and added tagging for us content creators.

I've just switched my new ROG machine to Studio One Artist and, so far, I've not noticed any difference at all in anything I've been doing. The chances that I will have even the slightest interest in paying for an upgrade is pretty much zero. In fact, there is only one feature I can think of that would tempt me and I'd bet a week's pay they haven't even thought about it - the ability to organise a live set and have S1 automatically go from song to song to song, in the order I choose.
chk071 wrote: Thu Sep 22, 2022 7:11 pmThat would actually be the only thing I really wished for: Some GUI refinements. The GUI isn't bad, and it's practical, but, it doesn't quite play in the league of Logic's and Cubase's.
I think it is streets ahead of Cubase, which is why I switched. If they f**k it up, they'll lose a customer for sure.
_leras wrote: Thu Sep 22, 2022 7:33 pmSo do you think this new version will mean it's almost as good as Cubase??
I mean, it might be right?
I think it's already better than Cubase, otherwise Id 'still be using Cubase.
chk071 wrote: Thu Sep 22, 2022 9:20 pmAt some point, it's gotta be more cluttered, if you want to force all the features in it. There's no other way, unfortunately.
They could make it customisable, so that users can choose what to see and what not to see. They are pretty good at that already. They can do what Adobe does with Photoshop and After Effects - put features into their own floating/docked windows so you only have to see the things you want to.

I feel exactly the opposite way and every time I have to go back to Cubase to open something my bandmate sends me, it confirms that feeling. To me Cubase is the one that's all over the shop, where S1 puts everything where its easy to get at. e.g. I never use the Inspector in S1 but you pretty much can't work without it in Cubase, so that's one less panel I have eating up my screen space.

Well, let’s just say right clicking in Studio One is always a bit of an adventure. And the settings menus are scattered all over the place.

I like both. Have been a Cubase user for over 20 years. These days I just find it doesn't make sense. You'd think I'd be more at home with it than ever. I switched to S1 and although there is a lot to learn I like the workflow and it seems to make more sense. Can't see me ever going back to Cubase.

Me, either. I don't understand why my bandmate sticks with it (and neither does he). He initially got into because he was working on a collaboration with other people who all used Cubase but that fell apart ages ago. I think now he's just being stubborn. He still messes about in Orion, too, where I stopped installing it two laptops ago.

The right-click menus are contextual, so they are meant to show different options, depending where you click. As for settings, I've not noticed them being anywhere but where I'd expect to find them.

Serhii Kot wrote: Thu Sep 22, 2022 5:07 pm Circles and 6 in form of a loop. Probably they added something like live looping, logic style I guess. I think this is a hint.
No. If you notice, the 6 is a slightly different shade of blue than the circles around it.
In other words...

CUSTOM COLOURS ARE COMING!
In the end of teaser there is a slogan, something like this: "Creativity starts here". I do not think they are refer to colours). Almost sure that some kind of looped based music production features are coming. I do not need it, but hey, if it makes someone happy, I don't have any problem with it.

My minimal Wishlist is: Macro knob automation, events automation(not only for midi). Also, would be great to have some modulation capabilities.

The "6" is looping. Clue?

6 in form of perfect circle, circles around it, and it's slogan. Not going to bet money on it, but this is what is my thoughts. 8)

Studio one 666. You can now summon demons to help you finally finish your first track, instead of fiddling around on kvr.

Hopefully they also fix automation timing.

Drat. Does that mean I'm going to need a new sheeps skull in my pentagram, with bigger horns to run Studio 666? Oh well, I knew I needed a RAM upgrade.

It practically absolutely is, given its multitouch-compatability, general touch-friendlyness, freely configurable macro-toolsbars and more.
