I ran across Unfiltered Audio BYOME today. I am familiar with other multi-effect plug-ins, but BYOME is something I had not heard of before. I am writing to get KVR member's thoughts on it - good, bad, or indifferent.
Many thanks in advance for your insights.

I have it and never use it. I don't like the sound of the individual modules. I heard great examples, but whenever I tried it myself again, I give up quickly with mixed feelings of boredom, distaste and annoyance... but I admit that may be me to some extent. Perhaps I should try harder.
I am a huge fan of Unfiltered Audio - in theory. I have most of their plugins yet never really use them. I love the concept and GUI, just not so much the sound itself. But lots of people feel very different about them and love the sound, so your mileage may vary dramatically. So I suggest you try the demo and have a listen to it for yourself.
However if you do like the sound, you are probably a lot better off with purchasing Triad rather than Byome.

Thank you! No kidding, I did a forum search first..maybe I botched my typing.
Thanks also to Jens for their reply.

Some effects are a bit bland and run-of-the-mill, a few are quite interesting. The phaser has some interesting touches for instance, some of the reverbs have their little touches that I find quite unique. Some effects can really be brought to life with good use of the modulation system. Make sure to compare it with TRIAD (the multiband version that can also do parallel processing but it may according to some be lacking PDC, however the manual for BYOME mentions some effects having parameters that introduce uncompensated latency anyway) and see which one if any, is right for you.
EDIT: also there has been a bug that limits how many instances you can use of BYOME in a project, I'm not sure if it's been fixed by now.

The modulation system makes it real fun. I'm not especially impressed with the individual effects. They aren't bad sounding but they either have too few effects or they take up too much screen space to be flexible. The fact that the crossover is modulatable allows for some neat stuff. For people who don't have a modular type DAW or subhosts with modulation then things are possible that would be tricky otherwise. I hardly ever pull it out unless I'm have hit a wall with other options.

I really like it ... it's a bit off it's head at times, but the results are often quite inspiring. You can get it for only $29.00 in the sale with the $20 off coupon. See the other thread ... viewtopic.php?p=8071071

And there listen to Simons contributions (sampleconstruct/patchpool) starting at page 5... very inspiring...

I just started using byome, and I have to say I haven't had this much fun since I first got Reaktor 15 years ago.
I have been assigning the envelope follower all over the place, and am able to get great dynamic effects. That said, I do look forward to V2, and hoping for some of the following:
Better EQ. The existing EQ module doesn't even have a sweepable mid. A 2-band fully parametric EQ would make the distortions so much more versatile.
Better Filter control. Specifically there is no width control on the bandpass filter. More filter types would also be welcome. The Ladder filter only functions as a lowpass, for instance.
Convolution. Would be useful both for reverbs and for cabinet simulations
More Distortions. There are about 50 fuzz algorithms out there, but most of the Byome distortions are either extremely strange mathmatical constructs (cool, though!) and a couple are just uninspiring (especially with so little in the way of EQ options.)
De-click for the Grain module. Kind of an inexplicable oversight...
Parallel processing. Would be nice to be able to split the chain, maybe with a crossover module option.
That being said, I have created about 50 super useful presets that sound like nothing I've been able to create with any other multi-effect. I have Soundtoys and Guitar Rig, and have taken both out of my live setup in favor of two instances of Byome. Even though there are many things the others can do that Byome can't, Byome is so easy to use and has allowed me to create such dynamic unpredictable effects that I suddenly have a huge selection of my own sounds for it that make everything else I own sound boring.
Hugely recommended if you like to tweak and create unique signature sounds.

I tried the Triad version for a while but after picking up the much more refined and flexible KHS Multipass, for not much more, have never looked back.

Maybe it's me, but it never hit the spot. Didn't like the lo fidelity of th individual fx....

I bought it 18 months or so ago and I have to admit that I have never so much as loaded it into anything. I played around with the demo for an hour or so, when it was crazy cheap, thought it might be handy but haven't thought about it since. We seem to do that a lot with big multi-effect plugins like that - get all excited at the possiblities, play around for a while but never actually use it in anything.

the other thread that this thread was linking to, has some videos from Simon Stockhausen.
Intriguing. The first time ever that i bought any sounds or presets.
Made me give Byome another try.
first thing that sprang to mind: yes, has its own sound quality, not something i would dig, really.
But simons presets do show where its strenghts lie !
i think these are a perfect starting point to see and understand where Byomes stage is.
check page 5, iirc, and check Simons videos/demos
