Hi all
Just wondering what synths does Chicane use for that er. Chicane sound and which are the best vst's that can emulate same sound?

It's not about the tools themselves, but HOW you use them. They probably use anything they can get their hands on, and feel it can do a proper job. I advise you to do the same

Maybe if you name a specific song and a specific sound in it, then someone chimes in that recognises the specific synth or preset.

Being specific, what I mean is the epic synth sound in Overture on the album Behind the sun and the arp sound in saltwater.

Great opening track, I love that album.

My man, you've gotta help us help you first. When it comes to synth programming, most the time we've gotta hear what you're talking about before we can advise. The tonal range of synthesizers is usually too wide to be described with words. Fortunate for you, I know this song, and have an idea what you're talking about. And looky here, I found a handy-dandy youtube link!

This, to my ears, sounds like many-layered supersaws. Beyond that... *shrug*

If you're new to this, and aren't too familiar with this technique, go look up the Synth1 VST, and try using this tutorial. It makes it easy, and is a good point to start learning.

That arp sound of Saltwater is also on Don´t give up with Bryan Adams. I always loved that sound and always had the idea that is a Nord Lead 1. I own a Nord Lead 1 today and it is very likely that was the synth he used. The Nord Lead 1 is very different from any other Nord: has more body and it´s a little bit less transparent but huge personality.

I also like Chicane. The first track I've heard from him is 'Offshore'.
It would be cool to have some presets that recreates sounds from that track.
