Issue When Using Micro Drum Sampler With my Own Sample WAV's | Waveform Free

So, I recorded different clips from my drum set so now I have a bunch of WAV's for snare, crash, hi hat, etc...

The problem is, when I load em into the micro drum sampler and program a beat using step clips or midi clips, I'm not able to adjust the velocities / volumes of an individual note. When I use the 808 drum machine that's already there, the velocity function works just fine, but when I switch to my own kit, the velocity function just doesn't work, and I have no clue why this is, and that's a problem because I have parts in the song I'm mixing where I need the snare to build up from soft to hard hits. I've tried making the WAV's both stereo and mono, I tried using an MP3 clip, I've clicked like every button in the UI to see if I had a setting disabled or something, but nothing's working. So yeah, some help would be incredibly appreciated!!! Does anyone know why this is / how to fix this problem?

On a completely separate note, would anyone know how to make it so when using step clips or midi, when the pedal hi hat sound is played it mutes any open hi hat sounds being played? I'm having the issue where I want to play an open hi hat and then step on the pedal and close the hi hat. But, when I try program that using step clips / midi (I have two WAV's / notes: pedal hi hat and open hi hat), the open hi hat just rings out after I hit the pedal. This is to be expected cause it's not like the program will automatically know I want it to stop playing, but yeah I'm not sure how to work around this, any help would be amazing!

Ok so I'm a complete idiot, and basically I completely missed the knob that said "velocity sensitivity" *facepalm*, it was default at 0 for all my own samples :/

So, super happy I figured that out (albeit in an embarassing amount of time), but I'm still having trouble with the hi-hat stuff, so if anyone can help me with that, I'd love you forever <3

I haven't actually delved into sampling yet, but to be aware of ...

Can you actually have multiple velocity layers in the drum sampler? Your cymbal might actually sound DIFFERENT as well as louder when hit with a higher velocity; so you might need to record additional samples and adjust levels for medium and hard hit cymbal for a more realistic sound; and have the velocity trigger one or the other sample. Just try to "tune" settings that it appears natural around that threshold.

Get "Speedrum Lite" drum sampler vst and load your samples in it, it has the hi hat choke feature you are looking for. It is the best free drum sampler plug-in out there.

Are you using the choke groups?

Surely there must be consensus by now...
