rendering difficulties

Hi. I have been consistently having the following problem rendering tracktion projects: There is always a second of clipping at the very beginning of the rendered wav. file. This happens with audio projects, with midi projects, and with projects that combine the two. I have tried changes in latency, I have tried turning the ASIO direct on and off. No combination of these has made any difference. I have so far been dealing with the problem by either putting noise at the beginning of each track and cutting it out of the resulting wav. file manually in cool edit, or by playing the tracktion project itself and recording it with cool edit. This seems to work, but its an annoying process. Does anyone know how to deal with this?? Thanks

Clipping as in going past the volume threshold? Or clipping as in cutting off the begining of the song? If its the second one, then try to start your songs a couple of bars in (bar 4 or 5 ect), that helps with cut off extremeties when rendering. I never start my songs on the first bar and I never have problems with dropped notes or cut off songs.

Actually, I have had to deal with both types of clipping. But when rendering the volume spike sort of clipping has been more common. Its like the first .5 seconds of the rendered wav. are 3 decibels louder than the rest of it. I will try your suggestion though. Thanks[/i]

Sometimes the last note from the last time you played any part of the track will not turn off.
When you go to do a render, that note will play as the track is beginning giving a louder first note.
When I have this problem I will put a short note at the beginning of the track a few measures before the beginning of the song. This will re-set the sound source and your song will begin propperly.
You can then remove this added sound in the rendered wave.

Oh ok, I think I've seen that before. Another thing that helps is if you set your markers beyond the song a few bars. Sometimes the end reverb or tail gets put in the beginning for some reason. But if you set your end marker to maybe 4 or 5 bars past the song it minimizes that problem (if I remember correctly, I havent had that in a while).

I always start songs on the third bar: I use the first two bars to put in any MIDI CCs or settings for plugins, and to make sure that there's absolute silence at the beginning of the track.
Coffee please, black, no sugar.
