Using Cakewalk Plugins in Waveform>>>???

There are some really interesting plugins in Cakewalk (namely the sonitus delays and reverbs) that I'd like to use in Waveform -Anybody have any idea how I can achieve this?? In Reaper, there is a preferences tab and you just click "find dx plugins" and "scan", but I haven't found any such thing in the Waveform settings.
If I could, I would probably delete the Cakewalk DAW completely and just keep the plugins, but I haven't figured out how to do that, yet!
Thanks.

Waveform doesn't load DX plugins, sorry. I think they did about 20 years ago when DX was one of the two main plugin formats, but they faded a long time ago. You might be able to find a wrapper somewhere.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Note: I am NOT the author of the following, nor could I even say this will work. But here is a possible solution for you.
This was a post I found from 2019. Because Waveform can load 64-bit VSTs, this could potentially work for you.
Again, no ownership of these directions or this method. I apologize if it wastes your time, but it may provide you the wrapper you need.
Code: Select all
1. Go to +++ https://www.xlutop.com/buzz/zip/ +++ https://www.xlutop.com/buzz/zip/
2. Download the zip file dxshell_v1.0.4b.zip
3. Extract it.
4. Copy the files dxshell.x64.dll and dxishell.64x.dll to the folder where Ableton Live or your DAW looks for VST plug-ins.
5. Make sure the DAW scans the location of the DX and DXI plug-ins.Again, no ownership of these directions or this method. I apologize if it wastes your time, but it may provide you the wrapper you need.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

Darn! -What is a "Wrapper"??pough wrote: Wed Sep 28, 2022 5:45 pm Waveform doesn't load DX plugins, sorry. I think they did about 20 years ago when DX was one of the two main plugin formats, but they faded a long time ago. You might be able to find a wrapper somewhere.

It's something that can load a specific type of plugin... that the DAW can load in turn.
For example, Waveform can't load a .dxi plugin... but that wrapper can load the .dxi plugin, and Waveform can load the wrapper.
As a specific example, Waveform cannot presently load a 32-bit VST. But it can load a 64-bit bridge that can load a 32-bit VST.

I see what you're saying. Yes -Thank you so much!Watchful wrote: Wed Sep 28, 2022 11:21 pm It's something that can load a specific type of plugin... that the DAW can load in turn.

How do you we tell which plugins are 32 bit and 64 bit in Waveform?? I think I loaded a 32 bit the other day because it was acting super "phasey" on the track. Not sure what happened there -I downloaded another version of it that was underneath it in the plugin list and that one worked fine -I'm assuming one was the 32 bit version and one was the 64 bit version, but I can't tell in waveform because tall there is to different the two are these little "E3" symbols. It's weird...
My appologies for the last response -Just now found your reply.
Also -How might I be able to get rid of the my 32 bit plugins?? I've got quite a few with mulitples -32 bit and 64 bit of each...

Nope. There is no way to load a 32 bit plugin into Waveform directly. It will not add them to the list of available plugins.tmaworks wrote: Sun Oct 09, 2022 8:21 pm How do you we tell which plugins are 32 bit and 64 bit in Waveform?? The icon differences are VST version 2 and VST version 3. The icons are supposed to represent plugs. One version of the plugs has a 3 to show that it's VST3.
Surely there must be consensus by now...
