So, in Reaper there is this function called "auto mute" (at least I think that's what it's called) -Basically, it's just a safety. Like, if you accidentally set a delay wrong or max out a compressor by accident, it will automatically shut off that function/ track so you don't blow up your speakers or your ears -It has honestly saved me quite a few times...
Does waveform have a function like this??
Thanks.

Nothing at all like that.

Hello! Yes, I also often found myself in this unpleasant situation, that sometimes I even had to press ALT + F4)
I did a test regarding your question and recorded it on
Judging by the result, we can say that there is some protection against uncontrolled volume. Output from the problematic plugin is automatically blocked after a short time after the start of clipping.
To return the plugin to work, you need to roll back the feedback settings, click "Panic" and click several times on disabling the plugin.
Still, this may not be fast enough, especially if you're running the mix at -10dB or more headroom.
You can also use the hotkey "F", which disables the plugin when it is selected.
The "Stop all playback when application is minimised" checkbox can also help you, it's in the menu: "Settings > Advanced". By enabling this, you can quickly close the program for example with the WIN+D hotkey and the sound will stop.
