But my point stands that since not everyone is going to pay $3,100+ for a hardware compressor (or $25,000 for an classic analog synth) then they're really only left with deciding if they like the sound of the plugin or not.
In other words, whether an emulation sounds like the hardware or not becomes irrelevant if you're never going to own the hardware. At that point the only thing that really matters is whether you like the sound of the plugin or not. Don't like the emulation? Fine, sell a kidney and buy the hardware.
I think we sometimes get too hung up on "emulation" when we should just be focusing on whether the plugin sounds good in our music.....
