Studio One 6 - Something is afoot (For realz this time)

It would appear that only the following new Studio One 6 features are exclusive to the Professional edition of Studio One:

That works for me. The lyrics thing would be nice but I've managed without it for 37 years so it's hardly a deal-breaker. The other things are of absolutely no interest to me at all. In fact, the Mixer Channel Overview thing seems to be for people with poor eyesight because it doesn't really do anything at all.

Beyond that, it seems all of the bits I actually like will be included in Artist, so it looks like I'm onto a winner. I've already upgraded my Artist license so I'll report back over the weekend about how it is.

I have updated to each version since I stepped in at v1.6, this might be the first time I'll wait until the first sale. On the other hand, I'm pretty satisfied with v5.x as it is.

Do we know how much of what's new in Pro is available in Artist? I've tried to find an updated comparison chart but I get a 404 error on the Presonus site. They use the same install, so it will come down to what they can switch on and off, depending on the license. If the customisation stuff is in there, that would be worth $38, so I could update Artist on my new machine first and see how it goes. Who knows, it might convince me to upgrade Pro on my laptop, too.

Hmmmm! I think I will wait little because the main thing I'm upgrading for (in Artist) is the ProEQ3 (that's the dynamic feature with sidechain which seems very useful), but I'm not sure now it is included in Artist. Also, the Track templates is not there? Which are necessary for multi sounds instruments, especially the Drums.

In SweetWater they said ProEQ2 but in Thomann and BestService they said ProEQ3.

I won't upgrade to Pro v6 (although I have Pro v5) because it is too much for me now that the NZ dollar compared to US dollar is very weak (I think Australian as well), but for U$39 (NZ$68), the upgrade to Artist v6 from v5 is very good if it has that dynamic EQ. If not, then I don't see the point.

Be aware that Best Service don't actually have any serial numbers yet. They told me they are onto it but I have paid my money and received nothing. During the transaction I discovered that our dollar has also plummeted to around 64c US. It was 70c a couple of weeks ago.

Great thanks! I think I will order it from Thomann (most of recent software I have ordered from there). They might also don't have any serials yet, so we might be waiting for several hours I hope.

I think most of the features are there in Artist, so I found ProEQ3, Deesser, Dual Panning, ..etc. I found this in Presonus site:

So, I'm going to order it, although NZ dollar is just 57c US now But in the end, it worth it IMO. I might sell the Pro version later as I'm using mostly Dorico SE for learning Music Theory/Classic guitar, so I need just Electronica/Synth Pop composition in S1, and Artist 6 looks ideal.

Yeah, I purchased my Upgrade from 5 Pro to 6Pro this morning (Aus time), they had the note saying that it may take 24 hrs, they sent me an Email later saying that they sold out the first lot of serials quickly and were getting more in later today. I was in no rush. The Aus $ is not the best, but it has just started heading in the right direction, still, $1.53 Aus to $1 US, what can you do.

Its only $50 more to get the crossgrade from any DAW than it is to upgrade from S1 5.5 so you could always sell S1 5.5 for $150 then just buy it again on the cross grade offe4r for $170 (if you have another DAW) and it's only cost you $20!

I've seen that happen before at JRR Shop. My guess is that Presonus did not authorize (or decided to rescind) a discount with JRR Shop. I guess you needed to be one of the lucky folks who purchased shortly after the listing became publicly accessible, but before the coupon code restriction was put into effect.

Same. I started with 2.x but I’ll wait until version 6.2 or something if/when they add more features. As it is now S1 5.5 has everything I need anyway.

I doubt it is easy now to sell v5.5 Pro for $150, maybe for $130. Anyway, you need to pay the transfer fee before transferring the license to the buyer. The fee is $25 I think (might be $30 not sure).

On the other hand, I've got my license (Artist v6) and installed it. Everything is good so far! There is the ProEQ3 and DeEsser. The interface looks great although no colours change, but that's ok for me. Tried it on Mac mini m1, later I will install it on Windows as well. I'm keeping v5.5 Pro installed just in case (they are both installed now, no problem). So, first impression is great and I'm happy for this (Artist) upgrade
