Bitwig releases Spectral Suite Add-on... and I'm not happy

I'm afraid the development of Bitwig will be split in 2:
a.) the basic DAW
b.) + the cash cow add-ons.
I'm with Bitwig since version 1. I bought it for it's full price, than already payed 4 x $129 to keep my upgrade plan alive. So it's not like I expect lifelong development from Bitwig for free, or it's not like I pay for the subscription once every 5 years. I'm honestly happy to support them, they deserve it. As far as a creative playground, I never enjoyed any DAW as much as I enjoy using Bitwig. But this add-ons concept... I'll probably look for some alternatives if the development will focus on these extra purchase add-ons instead of finetuning Bitwig itself and including all these new features in their normal upgrade plan.

I have to agree. This (unique?) combination of annual upgrade plans and excluded pay features for a flagship daw has me feeling very torn. I don’t mind one or the other, but both? I was about to finally sell my ableton suite license but not yet.

Yeah, this is a ridiculously short sighted step. And no real communication or explanation as to why, what their thoughts or plans are with Bitwig moving forward. I've only been with Bitwig since halfway through version 3's cycle, but I can't help feeling massively let down by this move. Talk about not reading the room. Haven't they noticed everybody's skint!? What's equally insulting is the rubbish intro price...

There is already a thread for this. Let’s keep this in the existing thread.

This is really a bad move IMO. I do expect these things, to be part of the upgrades that we pay almost annually, I am not really ok with needing to pay more for more stuff outside of it. It starts to feel like a bad deal for me.
I grant some things (like a GIGANTIC orchestral library for example), or third party add ons may have some rational for paid add ons, but first party "trivial" paid add ons is completely out of touch.

We are all upset about this but I don’t think we need three or four different threads about the same issue

The "Weird bug: latest "Spectral Suite" update not included in upgrade plan" thread seems to be the oldest/busiest on the subject, so please follow/comment on the subject there:

I've decided to go back to Ableton for now, there are too many little caveats with Bitwig that mess with my flow when making music, and seeing this just shows where their priority's lie. I would love to see a better snapping algorithm, everything just feels clunky when moving objects around, such as the piano roll and automation.

Ridiculous idea and move from Bitwig stopped temporarily at updating with version 3.2 but am happy i didn't pay yet for the yearly update. Really going back to Ableton live now, greedy Bitwig. Bitwig has potential but this is not the route they should go really upset......
Bitwig you have lost a yearly updater for good.....
