As far as I'm aware, nobody involved with the company reads this forum, so might I suggest writing to their support to voice your concerns? I've just done so. The more voices they actually hear the more chance of having an impact.

So if Bitwig have claimed:
"12 Months of Free Upgrades

Future-proof: All Bitwig Studio updates in the following 12 months are FREE. "

They might be in trouble.
I think that wording is the thing though. Add-on ≠ update.
I disagree. Until now all devices have been included as updates in the yearly upgrade plan. If they were add-ons they would be separate devices not related to the Bitwig version. And still then the wording would be very misleading, as they suddenly changed what can be defined as an update or an add-on.

If they wanted to generate an additional revenue stream maybe they should sell some of their plugins as VST/CLAP plugins to use in other DAWs. Or offer third-party sample / native Bitwig device add-ons as some other have suggested. As it stands now all yearly upgrade plan customers have been paying for the development of a piece of software that they have to pay an additional €100 for to receive.

or it is a no go and should pe free ?

reason has the same marketing strategy
we already pay a subscription fee via the upgrade plan. All updates in the year are supposed to be free, period. This is a poor decision and serious misstep for Bitwig.

I think they should just reverse course, include the add on in bitwig this time (and refund anyone who actually paid for this) and formulate a new, well communicated approach that will go live one year out once all current plans have expired. But, there will still be some trust issues to work out either way. Very disappointing
Agree. The only way to get this mess right. Communication is the only way to get this new business model on the road for all interests. PLS rollback and talk to your customers in a appropriate way BEFORE you change prices and pricemodels.

And don't call it upgrade! It's an addon we have to pay for!

Yes! I sent an email to support@bitwig.com expressing my opinions on this poor decision by Bitwig, and suggest others do the same.

It may well be that this move is necessary for Bitwig to survive, but as someone mentioned above, if that's the case then more honest and transparent communication would have helped. I included this statement in a 6 point support message I just sent them. If it's not the case, then I'm inclined to think "screw them"...Although I probably won't...at least not straight away.

i wrote an email to , lets hope for a kind comunnication with us

But the fact that I'm thinking about "screwing them" so soon after joining the Bitwig community, is a shame.

maybe, but they could've rolled these devices out as a 4.4 update and had a nice influx of renewed subs from people like me who would actually really like to get these devices.

Anyone tried these addons yet btw? :)

ARGH!!!! I bought Bitwig the day it was released in 2014, and have allways had a plan. I actually now have an update plan that expires first on the 2nd of march 2024 (because I bought a new one to get Bazille that was the last U-He software I did not have.).
I love this software but WHY THE f**k do they do stuff like this?!?!

ARRRGGGGHHH!

I'm torn. The rebel in me says, "No! Don't feed the capitalist machine!" But they look really cool!

If you like large gobs of latency and chirping in your previously pristine audio then buy these add-ons, and we wish you a warm welcome to Bitwig Studio Plus.

If not, may I be the first to introduce existing subscribers to Bitwig Studio Lite.
