I think this will be my last update plan for a while. The PDC problem was already quite concerning and now this. Completely f**ked my day.

Let's see what Live 12 has to offer… I paid less for Live in 20 years than Bitwig in 7.

Same here. Thought process was that "Hey I don't have Bazille yet and I'll most likely buy upgrade plan from some sale anyway so why not".

If they came up with the add-ons before the latest U-He thing I'd probably not bought it (the upgrade). Now I feel somewhat deceived. Of course I'll still have the cool synth and the normal updates from Bitwig for a while but yea...

It'll be interesting to see how things are in a year from now.

Ironically, I sold off my Bitwig license some days ago because I didn't like the periodic payments. On the other hand, Bitwig has some kind of future feeling that I don't get with other stuff. We'll see...

The main problem with switching for me is Bitwig's modulation. In my (granted not totally exhaustive) experience, nothing else comes close in that regard. I stopped using Studio One as my main production DAW for this reason. I'm pretty certain that Cubase and Logic can't compete in this regard (I'd be interested in knowing if I'm wrong), and even Live isn't quite on the same level here. Bitwig's modulation is it's strongest super power, and I'm not sure I can give that up.

If these tools were offered by any other developer at this price it would be an absolute no-brainer.

ZPlane Peel is $50 and that's just splitting out one frequency band with a stereo field control. But I've used it to help isolate unwanted noises and clean them up, and occasionally for creative effects.

Eventide Physion is $180 (with $100 intro price) and that's just the transient splitter, where you're stuck with their built-in effects, and it uses iLok.

Melda has a couple of tools that can do spectral level changes -- for instance, cutting out bands that are too quiet, or de-emphasizing the loudest ones to change the spectral balance. This is also one of the best tricks the Synthesis Technology E520 Eurorack module can do and that's an $800 module. But neither of them actually split into multiple processing bands you can apply other effects to.

And I don't think anyone else has anything like the harmonic split tool...

So this is an awesome set of effects, which I will immediately have practical uses for and it also offers a lot of creative potential. And the price is good. If it had been u-he or Arturia or Sugar Bytes or Cableguys or Voxengo or anyone else offering this, absolutely nobody would be calling them greedy and talking about boycotts.

Could Bitwig have included these in a 5.0 release (to encourage people to re-up their lapsed upgrade licenses)? Yeah, maybe!

But maybe these plugins require them to pay a license fee or royalties to a developer, and including it in the DAW price would have been a huge mess.

i use it right now its called patcher or so

True, there is a lot to love about Bitwig. Modulation and CLAP support and amazing.

However, this move to charge customers who are already on a subscription for updates has zero integrity.

Upgrade plan AND add-ons? Not compatible!
Some people are saying "hey but Ableton, Studio one...etc, have add-ons!". Well, yeah, but they don't charge you annually for 0.X updates!

so in the future you can choose between to upgrade price -plans
the bigger ones = will have all addons included
the little ones = just daw workstation features but without future addons

If Ableton is clever then they announce a reasonably priced crossgrade plan for Bitwig users. Should Bitwig really introduce this upgrade model then I'm happy to switch to Ableton Suite where I can use Max4Live instead of the still pretty limited Grid (even though Grid is more nicely integrated). Sad to see Bitwig going into this direction.
