The only thing that REALLY bothers me about Falcon and the Workstation is that they need to mount all the libraries at each start, and I have nearly 100 of them...

Definitely something I'd love them to look into fixing - Maybe writing a cache/database library file so it doesn't have to scan each time.

I agree. Falcon's 'automount' is a pain whenever a library is added.
There is a tip, but it's not very appealing.

Technically, there is no reason for scanning the folder on startup every time.

Mac OS's file system AFP offers a mechanism where applications can subscribe to be notified of any change to a specific folder. Unless your app receives a notification, there is no need to rescan.
It's one of the mechanisms which speed up Time Machine and Spotlight.

I must assume that NTFS offers something similar.

So I had some error with portal updating itself, so I uninstalled and downloaded from uvi.net the latest version of UVI Portal.

Then, I tried using the newly installed UVI Portal, and the download error occurred.

I use PC

edit: downloading Falcon 2.8.0 from uvi.net works. Thank you for the suggestion
