If you go to web archive https://web.archive.org/web/20220923055 ... g.com/buy/ at the bottom of the page we have:
"12 Months of Free Upgrades
Future-proof: All software updates in the following 12 months are FREE."

Now when you go to https://www.bitwig.com/buy/ you have:
"12 Months of Free Upgrades
Future-proof: All Bitwig Studio updates in the following 12 months are FREE."
Thanks for sharing those links. People seeking refunds may need this kind of evidence to support their case.

That's the sort of argument for court... but basically every user understood that all updates of any kind would be included. Many many times various users have posted on forums, or facebook and so on that users will get all updates. What that meant to people has always been very obvious and the Bitwig people have let users make all those posts and encouraged this idea with their silence.

Bitwig has had every opportunity to clarify that point, but they let the common user understanding be propagated everywhere without ever clarifying that how the users understand it isn't how they have understood it.

Not entirely upright behavior...

But oh well... I got my own life to live and I'm gonna go cook a delicious breakfast and have a splendid day. :tu:

You can always do a chargeback through your credit card if all else fails.

So now the paid updates will take longer as they develop optional content in the form of add on packs. Yes, It is a business. I don't have to like it. Their updates are already expensive, slow to arrive and sometimes very thin on features. In the end they have to try to survive. Perhaps this is the only way.

Worth noting that I sent a support ticket about the Spectral Suite debacle yesterday, and have not gotten a reply on it.

I submitted another ticket this morning about the 4.3.9 update not registering properly with their license servers, and they replied within an hour on that one.

I disagree that their updates have been slow and thin on features. If you bought 4.0, you would have then received 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 before your 12 months expired.

Go look at the changelogs and you will see that there is a helluva lot there.

As I said in one of my earlier post, what they have done is basically a major change of their "terms and conditions" without informing their customers. Now, with this childish "wording change game" they just admitted it.

A friend of mine forwarded this question to the support and they answered that the activation servers will be the last ones that are shut down no matter what. Additionally they will also publish a general activation update for all users when the end is near.

This is good news. At least there is a plan if the unthinkable happens.

musikarldererste wrote: Thu Oct 06, 2022 7:20 am I received an update notification in Bitwig today for version 4.3.9. When I installed it, and then opened it, all of a sudden a nag screen came on saying to update the Extended Collection package. When I went to try and do this, it failed because I haven't bought the Spectral Suite. I closed the program, re-opened it, and then the same nag screen came back and the Extended Collection package is greyed out. So I tried to revert back to Bitwig 4.3.8, and now there is always going to be the persistent "Update to Bitwig 4.3.9" message, which I'll have to click EACH AND EVERY TIME I OPEN BITWIG. Absolutely awful, and completely disappointed. I'm done paying for a yearly subscription for this kind of nonsense.
Um.... what the... ??? Plagiarize much? You literally copy/pasted my entire post from another platform... seriously???? That's kinda shady...

For what it's worth, I contacted Bitwig Support today and they're working on a fix. Here is the quote:

"Hi Stephen,

we are currently working on this problem and will release an update for this asasp!

Best regards,
Bitwig Technical Support Team"

I have zero problems with bitwig releasing paid devices outside of the subscription. If in time I feel I need them I will consider purchasing them. I find some of the comments here too much but hey that’s why we have free speech.

I always wonder about people who champion a screwing of the people. Do they work for the org that is doing the screwing? Maybe they are the kind of people that believe everything they are told. Maybe they are just extremely naive and believe everybody is out to do good. Could it be because the schools have taught them to make controversial rhetoric, principles be damned, and now they have no moral compass?

Whatever the reason, I see this more and more every day. The news loves to find these people. Heh, I imagine there are some in gulags and concentration camps spmewhere trying to convince their brethren that the overlords are doing it for their own good and everything will be better than it ever was.

SMH,
James
