Analogy Instrument Presets not right

This could be occurring in other instruments too, but a bunch of the factory presets in the Analogy instrument (under Synths in Msoundfactory) have so low of an output that they're inaudible. I have to boost like 40db in my DAW to hear them. I think it has to do with incorrect filter settings in the instrument, but that's a guess. Maybe someone can take a look at this?

I cannot confirm this. Can you post specific "steps to reproduce" this? E.g.: do you load a specific preset for this device or so? Did you check the global tab and re-check the volume there?
System: Win 10 64 bit / i9 9900K (8x 3.6 GHz) / 16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM / 1TB M.2 SSD + 2x 500 GB SSD / RME Babyface / Reaper

Even the patch that loads when you load the instrument has this problem. Turning off the filter fixes it. So yeah, definitely something wrong with how the filter is set up in this instrument

It's the Timbre CC74 modulator for the cut-off frequency that closes the filter if there's no MPE controller connected.

Disabling the option "Timbre is bipolar" under Globals -> Show Advanced Settings -> Controllers seems to do the trick.

Post

Thanks I'll give that a try. I don't know how I'd ever know that! Will MSF save that setting or will I have to do it every time is the question.

Post

I think it's saved in the device, so Chandler would have to update it.

I tried the device here and everything seems to work. I don't have an MPE controller, so I can't check to see if it works with that now, but with my normal keyboard it seems fine. If there is a problem, it would be better to contact Vojtech because I can't update it myself. Sorry.

Have you tried it with V16.01? Maybe this has already been fixed in the developer version.

I'm pretty sure I'm on the same version as everyone else, but I can check when I get home. I'm guessing some people's hardware is sending out CC74 messages, but I don't know for sure. See if it works when you draw the midi in and don't use a keyboard.

Sometimes in your videos, you're using another version, so I thought that might be the case.

I was using the piano roll to test it before. I've also tried it with my MIDI keyboard and it's the same.

However, that got me thinking it might be the DAWs fault and it turns out that's the case.

It works fine in REAPER, Bitwig, and FL Studio, but in Ableton, the filter gets closed. However, if I turn off MPE mode, it works again.

So the solution in Ableton is to either disable MPE mode or to program pressure and slide.

Yes, the issue is in Ableton. I reported it to them many times. Maybe they will fix it one day. Basically the Timbre CC74 should be initial 64, but they have it at initial 0. This means all notes are played as though Timbre is fully down. Not an issue if you have an MPE controller. As Held says the solution is to disable MPE mode in Ableton.
