It is very reasonable to think that they are working on it and that people within their organization have opinions on the direction to take.

This is extremely complicated for a business and not something that can be dealt with via a "we're working on it, give us some time" message. It's not that simple and won't make much of an impact. The torches will stay lit, regardless. I do feel they care for their company and customers and are not ignoring this out of obstinance. We have to ask ourselves what logic is there in that. They have families to care for and professional/personal goals in life. Four spectral plugins are not worth falling on their sword over - it makes no sense.
Unless Machiavelli is in complete charge.
(But with the wrong end?)

Indeed, it is complicated, which should have been considered before, not after the event.
Arguably saying nothing at all just comes over as abusive and arrogant. At least acknowledging people's concerns and indicating you are aware that things have gone awry has got to be better than not doing, surely. Admittedly that would have to be followed up by a well-thought-out proper solution.

If I were to jump on the speculation train... at some point, it was decided that these plugins (if released in an update) would have caused the community to pitch a fit because, and let's be honest here, they are specialized, and the vast majority of users would tinker with them a few times and move on. To avoid the "wHeRe's mSeG?!?!", someone thought, "hey, let's just sell them separately to the group of users that will find these useful in the first place and avoid the backlash." Haha.
Agreed with the rest of your post for sure, but this part, not at all. Bitwig is pretty much known for weird plug ins and future thinking DAW concepts. I mean besides some nice keyboard shortcuts, plug in sandboxing and uninterrupted audio engine, it's strong point isn't stock plug ins, or micro MIDI editing, orchestral or large templates, film scoring, rock band recording etc. Absolutely no one is buying Bitwig to record Country Music, it's a modular experimental playground, more so than even Live. It's "stock" Sampler does granular nicely even. Granular and Spectral synthesis are obvious areas for Bitwig to go in, it's all about destroying audio or making new sounds etc. Personally I would use the hell out of spectral plug ins.

Yes, there will always be a few people that want more traditional DAW features, but only because they don't want to use another DAW for those features , just Bitwig.

Agreed, this is why it's hard to believe that they're spending time to develop addon only for a minority of people who need specialized tools.
Obviously, when you sell addon you want to sell it to the majority.

Wait a minute, you've apparently not listed to my multi-album, critically acclaimed, experimental banjo music mixed using IRs that reproduce the interior ambiance of over 20 different pickup trucks (with and without the windows open). I'm very proud of it. :)

Experimental Banjo Music =/= Country Music, and you would definitely want spectral FX on that.

now I am not country [https://soundcloud.com/hink/azimuth]at all[/url] but I took that pic last week of my patio area and I am redoing it to remove the acoustic and add my dulcimer, you see I built the two electrics, and I built the dulcimer (actually the dulcimer build kind of created the DIY forum here)

Of course I am not likely to be Bitwig's target either :hihi:

I don't know, and I'm not going to read this whole thread, and the search sucks here, and well, um, I'm just lazy and want to hear the sound of my own voice, in a run on sentence, but, is there some chance that the reasoning behind this is that Bitwig licensed some tech for these from someone else, e.g., Zynaptic?
