If there's nothing official from Bitwig, posted on their site, or in an email to their customers, pinch of salt etc.
*lol*

That third party vendor (one of the biggest and most respected) clearly says that Bitwig themselves told him that they will address this issue officially "tomorrow" (i.e. today) - it's literally in that bit I quoted in the post you replied to. :dog:

Well done Bitwig???

Let us reflect the situation just a second...

The most people with a current upgrade plan have purchased that plan under the previous EULA which stated explicitly the upgrade plan includes all software updates including Addons, which the spectral suite was categorized as...
They violated their own EULA and therefore the contract with all these upgrade users because of greed and thought they will get away with it...
Now they got caught and tell their apologizes and doing nothing else than keeping to their contract which should have been normal behaviour for every company, give the money back they have stolen and your reaction is "Well done!" ???

I don´t know how your sense of justice is developed but please try the following...
Go and rob a bank... when you get caught you say..."Oh, sorry... this was just a mistake... I offer you to give the money back and then everything is fine, isn´t it?"

Finally look at the smiling faces when they close the prison door behind you and think again about how well this was done...
I refer you to my comment on page 6 of this thread in which I expressed my view on this subject. Bitwig have fulfilled everything I asked for in that comment. Life is too short to hold grudges, and when someone does the right thing, even if they were in the wrong, its right to say "well done". Here is my comment from page six...............

..............................................................
"As a non Bitwig user the solution to this problem seems very simple and obvious. All current contracts should be honored by giving each current license owner the spectral thingy for free, and any new gadgets that come out during there current contract period. And Bitwig should send an email to all current contract license holders informing them of the change to there new terms and conditions. People can then decide if they want to renew the contract or not. It will then all blow over and peace will be restored."

How to spot someone who doesnt use Bitwig and jumped on the bandwagon to watch them burn. Buddy, they did the correct thing. Credit where credit is due.

Bitwig listens to their community. Face the facts.

Now it’s blown over I just downloaded 4.4 and tried the Frequency Splitter on an 808. Really nice, like a buttery vocoder.

Not a Bitwig user, but credit to their user base who loudly said NO!!! and them for listening and doing the only right thing about it.
I am not sure my DAW of choice would have done the same.

This is not true!!

I had all the time a splice plan for Bitwig running... not any longer!!

I stand with what I said and stated... no money from me anymore!

Bitwig reverse their decision due to the outcry? Fair enough, better than not doing so.

But the folks posting “it’s just a vocal minority, most folks are quietly happy” seem to have been wrong no? Biitwig say they’re responding to the ’community’ so seems like the majority were displeased.

The folks posting “it’s just a vocal minority, most folks are quietly happy”, was taking advantage to Troll a Legit consern of a product they probably don't own or are invested in.

Well done people!

You know that forthcoming update with all the new goodies in it? It's just been pushed back by a year. Hope you all enjoy the next "big" update with bug fixes and the device that puts a dancing anime girl on the mix console.

I was considering Bitwig as my main DAW since I need something Mac ARM-compatible, but now I'd have to wait another year for the one-year of updates to actually be of any value. I'm also not so sure about the whiny, entitled Bitwig community either. I definitely prefer Reaper fanaticism....
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

I’ve got an update plan to 2014 so looks like I’ll be getting that big update. Yay!

Hope you enjoy my sunny response.

It's funny. Instead of voting with their wallet, many seem to resport to whine and complain. It's as if I bought a Porsche, and then I complain all day long about how bad the car is, and how evil the company is. While standing on an orange crate downtown, preaching people my way.
I would rather have a crowd of opinionated customers, than all of them being silenced or quiet because it may come off as complaining or whining. A lot can be learned from opinions that are initially disagreed upon, but later are confirmed to be the better way to proceed.

Bitwig has proved they are willing to listen, think about and change to the majority of how people feel on the subject. I think this is a lesson learned from everyone involved and shows the power that the customers truly have.

Paypal is going through something at the moment too, but they quickly reversed their decisions to proceed with the $2500 fines. It was because of the backlash, disagreeing opinions and people closing their accounts, while their stock price dropped.

Do you mean, "thanks conrads for making this right, Bitwig f**ked up, but because of you, they have seen the error of their ways and we all get this as the update it should've been"?

Keep smiling mate, sending a hug!

Hahaha... no.

Bitwig sees the writing on the wall and is now going to provide updates in bite-sized bits, always keeping y'all hungry for more.

Admittedly, Bitwig done f**ked up. They should've released the Spectral Suite as VST/AU/CLAP plugins under a separate company (maybe Bigtwit, Inc.) Y'all would've been happy to pay then...
