Wrong!_leras wrote: Tue Oct 11, 2022 12:26 pmThere's another 100+ page thread to show that's not exactly a surprise.foosnark wrote: Tue Oct 11, 2022 12:12 pm How is giving people the addons AND giving the people who paid for it refunds AND outlining that in the future they will make everything part of the Upgrade Plan AND apologizing "tricking their users?"
I marvel at your dedication to being bitter, cynical and unhappy.
I'm glad Bitwig made it right, knew they'd come round.
It didn't need the mob hate though. Manners and respectful behavior are free and have just the same outcome.
It was that outrage that has brought this solution. If people kept their mouth shut like you wanted too accomplish by constantly trying to picture them as fools, nothing would have happened.
If people behaved you you wanted, we would have nothing at all! Don't act like you did anything that brought this solution.
I could say we got a good solution despite your efforts. Lucky enough people saw you as the fool and not themselves. Personally I am happy that this loud voices where heard all the way into Berlin.
Anyway - They admitted their fault. I am not a hateful person, so I a prepared to let them of the hook. However, they stay under close observation from now on. They will have to prove to me that they will keep their promise.
And - If it's the need for money that brought us this debacle, I am happy to pay up an increase of the Upgrade Plan (Say €200) as long as we indeed get what we are paying for. You see - I want Bitwig to stay strong, but at the same time I do not want to be fooled ever again.

Like i said, my concern is only if they delay 4.5 on purpose. We'll see.foosnark wrote: Tue Oct 11, 2022 12:45 pm- There is no reason that this delays the release of 4.5.Enrize wrote: Tue Oct 11, 2022 12:25 pm I see it as they made it 4.4 exactly for this reason (to take some of your update plan). They could make it 4.3.11, right? Or they can move it to 4.4 with everything else they had originally in mind for 4.4, right?
....and now I'm pretty tired of arguing about this.
I don't want to argue about it also. My point was not being toxic or trolling. This is just how i see it. I can of course be wrong, and i'm fine with it. Time will tell. Anyways i'm glad everyone got what they want.

Well, not sure how I feel about this. I didn't want the spectral tools for free. I'm not opposed for Bitwig getting their bag, it's the way it muddles the water on what qualifies as part of normal upgrade plans that irked me. This part however,
Is clear as water and much appreciated. It does feel like a bandaid, though, and if my issues have been completely solved, I worried Bitwig's cashflow issues are the same or worse, since they closed many options for revenue with this.
I think I'd be more confortable with a very clear roadmap of what would be eligible to be sold as an add-on, in order to organize my mid-term decisions.
As a costumer, I was happy with the status quo, and it has been restored. Couldn't be happier in that regard. Cheers!
Moving forward, all of our Bitwig Studio feature development, including devices, will be covered by the 12-month Upgrade Plan.

I don't think I ever told people not to voice their opinions. I would just hope people could do it respectfully. Manners are free.jclosed wrote: Tue Oct 11, 2022 12:48 pm Wrong!

I emailed them about this last week. Did you?
I think they basically did what most people, myself included, have suggested to them.
It would have been the same outcome had people just emailed them politely. They're clearly a reasonable bunch that just made an misjudgement.

Great to see these tools included. The tools, with the Bitwig integration to fx chains is super powerful and really useful - even in not extreme sound design use cases, but just for mixing.
Bitwig is such a great tool to me I'd keep using it even if were never updated again - but good to know it's only onwards and upwards.

The idea wasn’t wrong. It just had to be introduced more gradually.
Brzzzzzzt.

I’m just a hobbyist still learning my tools. That said, I’m in the middle of my second update plan, so initially I was disappointed as everybody else. I decided I would just stick with 4.3.8 and whatever updates I paid for + keep using Renoise and stop upgrading Bitwig.
Been watching the boards online and I’m pleased Bitwig did the right thing. I will certainly continue upgrading moving forward. Thanks Bitwig for cool software!

Wow ...
I'm really happy to hear this news
I have to give them credit too, b/c the decision must not have come with much joy. I think they did the right thing though. Bravo

Gratitude? For what? Spreading false information and acting like a lynch mob?Teksonik wrote: Tue Oct 11, 2022 12:44 pmYou mean the mob hate coming from fanbois who called the people who complained "crazies" or "children" or "childish" or accused them of "crying" or "whining" ?_leras wrote: Tue Oct 11, 2022 12:26 pm It didn't need the mob hate though. Is that respectful behavior?
Yes some people may have gone a bit over the top but that came from both sides.
The bottom line is you and all the other fanbois owe those who complained a debt of gratitude because without them Bitwig would not have changed course and rectified their mistake.
So show some "manners and respectful behavior" to those who fought to make Bitwig do the right thing and say thank you.![]()
You do realize that their business is now the same as before. It's not like they did this for shits and giggles. Now they'll have to find another way to make it more sustainable. One that may end up being much worse than mere optional addons.

I barely use Bitwig but recently bought it for CLAP and polyphonic modulation, haven't had time to learn it, so I stayed out of the fray about the Spectral Suite. But this 4.4 update was the right move. Nice job Bitwig! Everyone makes mistakes. It's how you respond to them that's important. Will probably re-up next year (was definitely not going to happen otherwise).
