Definitely a great choice and one of the best sounding synths out there...Scrubbing Monkeys wrote: Sat Oct 15, 2022 10:06 am Today......I would say Spire. Not because it can do everything but because It sounds the best for things I use synths for.
If you could have only one synth, what would you choose?

Since folks on here said I could import drums into Pigments, that's exactly what I did. Works really easily, too. Nothing convoluted like Wavestate Native. I did try to map the drums so that it's one sound per key, but I couldn't figure out how to do that. I suppose that doesn't matter as I record drum parts one track at a time anyway.

My memory of the demo was that every preset was drenched in FX - I like to audition analogue dry. I put the analogue feel of Tonys stuff down to the type of music he does and his skill in producing it, and not necessarily to the synths he uses.Teksonik wrote: Fri Oct 14, 2022 3:47 pm

So it's kind of hard to tell where you stand. Anyway demo periods have been reset at times after major updates so if it's been a while you should be able to download DUNE 3 and try it for yourself again.dellboy wrote: Thu Oct 13, 2022 12:36 pm I am surprised by your choice, because I have just clicked on a number of your tracks (all good) and they all have a distinct 70's - 80's subtractive analogue feel to them.

You could have simply turned off the FX to audition the sounds dry...or make your own which is why I said try the DUNE 3 demo again so you can try to make the kinds of sounds that you like.dellboy wrote: Sat Oct 15, 2022 1:07 pmMy memory of the demo was that every preset was drenched in FX - I like to audition analogue dry. The problem with the term "Analog" is that it doesn't have just one meaning. It can mean anything from lush saw pads with low pass filter sweeps to the bleeps and bloops of a modular system to stepping on a cat's tail filter screeching.
Your original question was "Can DUNE 3 do analog" and the answer is an absolute yes. It has all the architecture and tools to make Analog sounds. Saw,Square, etc waves, modeled filters etc.
If your original question was "Can DUNE 3 make the kind of analog sound I like" then no one but you can answer that question.
Which is why again I say try the demo one more time and see if it does the sounds you want. The quality is there (remember, Synapse also did The Legend and OBsession plugins so they are no strangers to analog sounds) and the tools are there, it's just a matter of whether you like the plugin as it is today or not. Only one way to find out.........
Oh and if you do try the demo again send me a PM and I can help you with some tips I've learned over the years about DUNE 3's workflow.

Soundwise SM2 still is my favorite synth, can't wait for the granular Osc(s) in SM3.
All the best to you Bülent. Keep it up!

Re: Pigments keymapping. I just read up about how Pigments does their six keymaps. It automatically assigns key zones based on the number of samples loaded. IOW, I couldn't place a kick on C1, a snare on D1, a high hat on F#1, etc. Like I'd said before, no biggie. It'll still be the one synth I'd have despite its strong CPU presence.

I think one of these:
Massive X, Bazille, Phase Plant, Pigments, Icarus 2, OPsix, or Dune 3. If just a DAW with one of its synths, then Logic Pro with Alchemy.
Hardware? Well, I think my DeepMind 12D would be enough
I'm lucky that I have all the above + more!

Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Only the parasynthetic choices, not to be confused with the parenthetic variety.
