FYI - Dynamics/Limiter Knee does nothing if threshold is at 0dB

I've been suspicious of this for a long time but finally just did a test with this. It appears the knee in MLimiterX and MDynamics doesn't actually do anything if the threshold is set to 0dB. I just did a test on some files with 100% knee and 0% knee and there is zero difference between the output, despite the limiter reducing the gain as you'd expect from a limiter. This is with both lookahead and without, and using MDynamics and MLimiterX.

I determined this by using a waveform editor (Acon Acoustica) and looking at a very zoomed in output... but you could also check this with an inverse phase test too.

There are a few Melda graphs where a curve will disable when it reaches the limit (the LPF/HPF filters in the EQ's are another example) and I guess the knee disables when it hits the 0dB threshold.

The reason I noticed this is because when using MLimiter I usually set the threshold at 0dB, lower the ceiling to -1dB and play with the Input gain... but obviously this means that I always get 0 knee... so I'm going to have to change how I use it.

Thought I'd post this for people's info.

It's probably an optimization. There could be a knee anyways if you think about it.
