I don't understand, are you people using compressor gain controls to balance track levels?
The signal chain is supposed to be: trim to reference level -> gain-matched FX -> track fader
Just leave the plugin enabled and balance tracks using faders.

My workflow is :
Apply the chain of effects till the track sounds good. Then i should be able to compare this track after all the effects with the original signal, but WITHOUT affecting the processed signal. I want the original signal to adapt to the processed one, not vice versa
What you said is not a good idea with autogain enabled, cause the final processed volume gets constantly changing. I need autogain but to the original signal for comparison, not to be constantly modifying the final processed audio,
hope it is clear, cause it may be the workflow of many people too...
So in other words, i need the plugin to be transparent to the processed level. I only want it to compare with the original source

Exactly, it eliminates the autogain adjustment in progress problem! Although it's very quick and pretty accurate in Gainmatch, it moves - and the way jaumemussons79 mentioned, it's not a problem no more.jaumemussons79 wrote: Fri Oct 21, 2022 10:07 am My workflow is :

It'd be lovely to have a choice, which one of those approaches to follow in every instance. Sometimes it's the other way I'd prefer still. Great idea nevertheless!

All ozone plugins do it this way. It is perfect to compare the signal at the final volume level, not at the original.kPere wrote: Fri Oct 21, 2022 10:34 amExactly, it eliminates the autogain adjustment in progress problem! I don't see how a constantly-changing "bypass" signal level would be any better. The solution is to turn off autogain when making A/B comparisons.jaumemussons79 wrote: Fri Oct 21, 2022 10:07 am What you said is not a good idea with autogain enabled, cause the final processed volume gets constantly changing. Ozone's approach makes sense for a mastering processor: any gain changes after brickwall limiter and/or dither makes those steps pointless. (I use Limiter 6 GE which also has a loudness-matched bypass feature.) But this reasoning doesn't apply to track effects.

Maybe i am not explaining correctly, excuse me.
The idea is to have the plugin automatically match the loudness of the source signal, leaving the processed untouched. Once you want to compare the signal level matched, you will get the original one, but normalized to the same volume as the processed. This way you can work without altering the track volume, and compare the original one with the one you are mixing in the context of your mix. This is the gain match idea on the izotope plugs, and it is perfect. You work and process the way you want, an when you want to see if it really improved, simple compare with the source signal that gets raised as necessary to match the same loudness. Perfect workflow

I got this reply when contacted developer with that idea:
"
It's indeed possible since GainMatch v.1.1,
just right click on "Listen before" button and choose "Display listen gain".
Then you'll be able to (auto) adjust the "before" level to match the after."

Hey, guys! That's indeed possible.
Just right-click on "Listen before" button and choose "Display listen gain".
Now when "Listen before" button is green (ON) turn on the AUTO mode - it'll change the "Before" (Listen gain) instead of After.
There's an explanation here: https://youtu.be/h5D4OK2VQGc?t=217
