CLAP is certainly getting traction. I think it is the best thing that happened to plugins in a long time:
CLAP is off to an impressive start!

If you disagree, make your arguments.ramseysounds wrote: Sun Oct 23, 2022 4:07 pm Why are you putting forward arguments that are not backed up with facts, just to keep the dialogue going? Jeez
(In response to OP on last page)
Those factors tend to support the Virtual Instrument industry over the hardware synth industry. You can get a full featured softsynth for around $200 or less and while there are some cheap hardware synths coming out these days, to get something full featured could cost in the thousands. So economic turmoil would tend to work against high ticket items in favor of less costly options.tony10000 wrote: Sun Oct 23, 2022 7:43 am - Economic turmoil means less discretionary spending

My thoughts? Just because a thread has the word "instrument" in it does not mean it belongs in the instrument forum. That's why we have the "Everything Else (Music Related)" forum for these types of (in my opinion) pointless speculation threads.

Then why are we seeing all these wonderful new hardware synths and very few new software ones?ramseysounds wrote: Sun Oct 23, 2022 4:25 pm My thoughts? CPU processing power is getting stronger and faster all the time. VI are a fraction of the cost of HW. Studios are closing. More and more people are making music on laptops. VI makes music more accessible. But yeah, VI has had its day and will no longer sell anything. Oh and yeah you make posts just to be seen and keep the dialogue going with unproven comments. That ok?![]()
Then prove me wrong!
Perhaps, or perhaps not. VI synth prices will also increase. Time will tell.Teksonik wrote: Sun Oct 23, 2022 4:30 pmThose factors tend to support the Virtual Instrument industry over the hardware synth industry. Hopefully, companies can hold on long enough to make them. If you read the devs forums, they are having a tough time just doing maintenance upgrades (example: Apple Silicon).Teksonik wrote: Sun Oct 23, 2022 4:30 pm
"Is the VI era over? Most certainly not. Is it slowing down? Perhaps but there are several projects in the works that I am exited to see released and they will almost certainly be insta-buys for me so progress does continue. Maybe we don't see a new softsynth drop practically every day like in years past but progress does continue."
That is you...you are not everyone. Elecktron, Akai, Polyend, and others seem to be successful by promoting that workflow.Teksonik wrote: Sun Oct 23, 2022 4:30 pm
Are some people going DAW-less? Sure but I'd retire from music before I ever went back to being Dawless.

The bottom line is we have no solid facts or statistics in our hands to prove or disprove the theory so in the end it's all just speculation. Do you have the exact hardware synth sales figures from Sweetwater? Software synth sales figures from Arturia or Cherry or N.I. or ?) Without them no valid conclusion can be drawn. Opinions can be formed but no valid conclusion can be made.
No thanks. Up to you backup your claims, not me. And no, Youtube with videos made by all kind of average Joes is not a solid reliable source of information.
