I asked HZ - he says he thinks he said "no dodgy modules" and that it might have been misunderstood

Now that's a big oops on the translator! hahaUrs wrote: Tue Oct 18, 2022 12:20 pm I asked HZ - he says he thinks he said "no dodgy modules" and that it might have been misunderstood![]()

Perhaps what they meant:The oscillators are great, and the circuits are great, and there's one module that's a bit dodgy, but they're all of an equal quality.

If you would ask me if there is a dodgy module in Zebra, I would say it is the Comb module and the need to finetune the Keytracking in some modes... --> Howard explains this in an old YT-Video (u-he YT Channel).
In Z3 I would love to see a Combfilter who is always in tune/perfectly-keytracked on every mode (when Keytracking is on default setting). As I´ve seen in Hive I am not concerned about that tho...
THIS --> Hans Zimmer: “And I like a GUI that is intended for a soft synth as opposed to an emulation.” Looking at the commercial of the new "Opal morphing Synth" from UniversalAudio here on KVR I just had a laugh earlier...
(somehow reminds me of the "very old" PowerCore SH101
) and now reading this Interview just strenghtened my primitive thoughts I had earlier.
Skeuomorphism in audio software (IMO) is so late 2000s... I always said to my collueges, there is hardly any scene (which I was part of) who is more conservative than the audio industry --> all this magic (snake oil) floating around stubbornly.
I hope the industry, at some point, starts educating the customers better, it would further the development of the whole audio industry (or they will start to loose focus themselves and agile developers who understand the real need of future-proof software will take over the market niche by niche). BTW, Diva did a tremendous job regarding the "analog" snakeoil --> now it`s "non-linearities" and software is now "allowed"/accepted to sound the same as real analog gear--> thx Urs
.
Many players in the industry just won´t stop beating a dead horse...

Just watched a documentary on Amazon about James Bond music through the years. Hans features rather prominently and in several shots you can see Zebra open on the monitors behind him. Pretty cool.

Zebra now requires a "Bit Dodge" module as an inside joke

In almost every picture or video of Hans in his studio you’ll see Zebra on his screen behind him!bk wrote: Sun Oct 23, 2022 12:13 am Just watched a documentary on Amazon about James Bond music through the years. I watched a Film Scoring Mastercourse from Hans and he predominately used ZebraHZ. It was only made within the past few years, so Hans isn't kidding about enjoying Zebra over these many years
