Dont know if this has been covered before? But..

Many plugin plug-in Devs allow for automatic upsampling upon offline render, to make lighter use of CPU when working on a track, then oversample when render.

TBProAudio , Voxengo , Kazrog to name a few.

Which makes perfect sense, then you don't have to manually go and set plug-ins to to higher OS , when you're about to render.
And set them back when working again..A real PITA !

BUT , as i understand it , it's up to the DAW to report to the plugins that offline rendering is taking place.

Does every DAW do this now days !? ( One would expect)

Does Ableton do this ?

Does Logic do this ?

...any others?

No one , knows !?

Are there DAWs that don't do that nowadays?
IIRC Cubendo did that many years ago.
Reaper does it since I don't know how many years.
The only 2 DAWS I really used/use.
What DAW do you use that doesn't?
ABX is enemy to GAS

Ableton 10 , dosen't seem to... 🤔

Would love to, if someone could confirm

What is your goal? Is it ...

A) Just the plugins with available offline render setting should automatically render at higher sample rate?

or

B) All plugins should render at higher SR? Even those included without offline render setting?

Post

It looks like Bitwig and Ableton Live might both have issues with offline rendering at a higher sample rate, or separate offline rendering modes.

I'd be surprised if Cubase and Logic don't support separate offline rendering modes.

FL does this if a plugin has the option built in. "Notify about rendering mode" in the wrapper options.

I asked Andy from Cytomic about this in another thread.
All major DAWs I know of support reporting of offline render to plugins including: Ableton Live, Reaper, Logic, Cubase, and Pro Tools, and any software that does report offline mode via VST2/AU/AAX will also be supported.
