Sorry for the post. Didn't find the info anywhere online... But, I am somewhat inept with tracking down certain info at times...
I've got some sweet, old, VST 32 plugins and some Tukan JS plugins that I use in Reaper...
I'm trying to make the jump from Reaper to Waveform, but it doesn't seem that these are supported??
No J Bridge sorta thing?
Thanks.
The more I use Tracktion, the more my appreciation for it grows!

Waveform no longer supports 32-bit plugins since version 7 or so.
J Bridge works fine in Waveform, although many 32-bit plugins are available in 64-bit format so no bridge is needed (for example, Reaper's plugins are available in 64-bit). Obviously, if you have a choice between a 64-bit plugin and a bridged 32-bit version, you want the former just for efficiency's sake.
Waveform supports .vst, .vst3, .au, and SOUL (if you can find any of those). It doesn't support .aax to my knowledge.

Yeah -I ALWAYS elect to download 64 bit VST 3 when I have the chance (I'm in Windows) -It's just some of these funkier old ones are only 32 bit, unfortunately...
Know of a free J-Bridge alternative?? A non-buggy one?? (Not saying J-bridge is buggy -I have no experience with it...)

Not especially. There are 2 I've seen: one was Net Studio (?) It worked, but was overly complicated and not worth the hassle for me. Another was promoted by its developer her a couple years ago, but turned out to have a fair amount of malicious code inside it, as reported by several users.
I think Net Studio was the first product's name, but at the time I tried it, there was no documentation and it was pure trial and error. It worked, but the effort exceeded (for me, anyway) the benefits of 32-bit plugins.

Hmm... Okay, then!! Yeah -I think I saw the two you mentioned. Was a bit hesitant to download them and I might just keep it that way -"J-Bridge-Free".Watchful wrote: Sat Oct 29, 2022 4:31 am Not especially. There are 2 I've seen: one was Net Studio (?) I admittedly limited testing, JBridge seemed to be fairly inobtrusive if you plan to use just one or 2 32-bit plugins. The NetBridge or VSTHost methods essentially have plugins running concurrently to Waveform and pass MIDI and audio back and forth, so you adjust most of the parameters in THAT software; and while it works it's confusing - maybe OK if you run 2 or 3 monitors so you can keep it visible.

I use jBridge with Waveform. Seems to be fine, for the most part, I'm sure you'll find some incompatible plugins but the same is true for non-bridged plugins, too.
For Windows users, I'm pretty sure only VST/VST3 plugins are an option. If you're on a Mac I think AU plugins also work.

Surely there must be consensus by now...

Oh, sweet! Thanks! Yeah -Think I might just spring for J-Bridge. Seems to be the most reliable. Lord knows I don't need anymore computer issues -Got Geek Squad on my recording laptop as we speak...
