Of course you can choose where and what to buy.
I'm also happy that some developers offer awesome products at such bargain prices.

But just because someone who is good at plumbing and loves to do this next to his actual job is replacing all your water lines in your home for next to nothing, that companies who do this for a living should or could compete.

I don't know what you're doing for a living, but if there are also other principially generous people who do what you do at your job, but only ask a tenth of your wage (if anyhing at all), you'll sooner or later also have enough free time to learn coding and do samaritanian work as an unemployed

The law of Supply and Demand has a lot to do
with pricing. It would be a nice side-effect for
the music industry if more people of all ages
with more time at home turned to creating music,
and mastering instruments,
at the cost of rejecting the TV industry drivel.
(have you noticed that kids are afraid to be
heard 'practicing' with the attendant flaws,
which may be driving the canned-loops/beats/samples
market, where you drag & drop, with no clue what
a scale or key signature are, let alone being able
to play something in such a context. :dog:

Plumbing is hard work, done in somebody elses home
or business, if you screw it up, you cant blame anybody
else, and repairs are on you.

With bad code, you re-write the flaws in your pajamas,
issue a bug-fix update, and are hailed for supporting
your customers.

Many have become soccer-fan style plugin-bois,
where you hate those guys, love these guys,
that bunch is an evil corporation, and the really big names
are an evil empire...
Anyway, I'm done with buying softsynths. :scared:
I'll buy updates, a few sound libraires if they go
on mark-down, and maybe a Plugin-Boutique
$5 no-brainer. And like Allan Iverson says,
practice...practice...practice.
Cheers

What happened to Native Instruments is a really simple answer. Stephan Schmitt left, along with many other good developers. If you we're a customer over about a decade or so ago, you would have seen development at it's finest for the time.
If you've ever really wondered what happened to Native Instruments brilliance , well here's the actual original Native Instruments developer / creator of reaktor etc. take a look at what he's building now. ;)

i'm of course no intern, but i think the reason Stephan left, was because something already had changed within NI and he didn't feel the freedom to develop the stuff he wanted to.
this often happens when companies become big and either the marketing teams are getting the say, or they're getting bought by some investors.
and in such cases, many of the original founders will eventually leave "their" company.

True to what's written above , but dont ' forget the other mastermind who still works a N.I. :
' Vadim Zavalishin' , the inventor of reaktor core that actually turned reaktor in a TRUE low level dsp playground.
As long as he's still there and Reaktor is in active development I'm good , I couldn't care less about the other plugins ( altough masssive X is serioulsy impressive )
I have noticed that since the big buy out I am flooded with N.I .kontakt promo video's on youtube , at least we now where the money goes

Reaktor Core is amazing. I wish NI put more effort into developing new blocks. I really need a roland filter on the same level as their MS20.

Same goes for Molekular. Absolutely mind blowing they should update it.

It's impressive instrument. You actually have its engine inside NI Kontour.

The SKF filter (the yellow one). That models the sallen key - MS20.

OMG thank you for the link, this is the first time I heard of Nonlinear Labs and C-15, I know who Stephen Schmitt is but I did not follow his new business adventure.
This C-15 sound absolutely incredible and inspiring!

...oh, yeah - Reaktor Blocks, what a great eco-system this could have been...  :bang: :dog:

...they sound really great, but they seem to have a troubled history. While having a lot of potential, developing and maintaining certain things in Reaktor seem to be quite difficult (builders could surely tell more). And NI has certainly f**ked up the Blocks UX in some aspects (most likely not the designers' fault) and definitely the marketing side. A bit more time and ressources on the development and a clear marketing strategy and campaign, I think, the Blocks framework could have been really something. In hindsight it seems it had been 'dammit, we need something fast for the next Komplete'...

So do you think they are not going to develop it further? I would hate if Blocks became abandonware.

It's best to ask the bean counters...

This.

I really hope Reaktor will see some serious updates soon. Efficient convolution at the primary level would be awesome.
