I cannot get my head round this and perhaps someone here can help me...

For reference, Im using the Jupiter 6 template here.

When I have the trimmers tab open I can see the lights scrolling through to indicate which voice is being used as I play a note. Single notes mean the voices are selected sequentially, 1-8. And then, if I play a chord of four notes, for example, those four voices are selected simultaneously (obviously). Here is where it gets confusing. Single notes played after this will first go through the remaining four voices in order - but then following that, the voices that were just used for the chord will be allocated in a seemingly random fashion. So then we have a new 'pattern' which remains in place as long as only single notes are played. But as further combinations of chords and single notes are played, these 'random' variations will accumulate.

Now, I'm fine with randomness, but this isn't quite that. And I'm certain this is a designed feature - but I just can't understand it. That is, what's the reasoning behind it? I can't find a reference to this behaviour in the manual.

thanks

for anyone interested, I have I think discovered the cause of this behaviour, (inasmuch as there was anything to see).

voices are allocated depending upon when they were last used. The more recently it was used, the longer until it is used again. So when playing a chord, one's imprecise sequence of releasing the notes held then leads to the pattern of 'last used voice' tending to change, as opposed to a simple pattern of playing one note cleanly after another.

I'd still welcome any further insight though.
