Sorry, no. I should know as I have some, like one of 8Dio's sax VIs. It is a VI, not a "library." A single instrument is not a library.

whyterabbyt wrote: Thu Oct 20, 2022 8:52 am You could go on and on about it, but none of those products are actually Virtual Instruments by the accepted definition, whilst Kontakt is.

You seem to be confusing marketing with the actual facts.
Yes they are, and no Kontakt isn't. Even NI does not refer to Kontakt as a VI, because it isn't, and all those companies making VIs that work in Kontakt do. Because they are. But if you want to keep living in some fantasy world where that isn't true, have fun.
Kontakt's entire purpose is being a Virtual Instrument that play back samples. Your argument appears to be that as soon as even a single sample is loaded into Kontakt, that sample magically becomes a Virtual Instrument in its own right.
Maybe if you even slightly understood how software works, you'd not be so confused.
I was probably working with software professionally before you were pooping your diapers. Maybe if you weren't so proud of being a fool you'd have less egg on your face.
Which bit of me explaining that they are data was too difficult for you to follow
So now you're not only saying Kontakt is a VI, but it's not software...it's data. lol. Dude. When you get down to it, all software is basically "data" but yeah, Kontakt is software. Also grapes are food and water is wet. Though I wouldn't be surprised if you disagreed with those last two things too.
Yes it is indeed wrong. And a pathetic strawman. Massive and Absynth are software, and Virtual Instruments, exactly as Kontakt is. And their presets and patches are data, same as Kontakt instruments are.

The fact you're having to throw up such crass and stupid fallacies pretty much indicates how poor your argument is.
YOU are the one who said a "Kontakt instrument" is the same thing as a sampleset, preset, or patch. I pointed out that was wrong. Now you agree with me and say *I* am posting a strawman and posting fallacies. lol Dude you are the king of strawmen.

I doubt any of this sank in and don't care, done with you and your idiocy or trolling or whatever it is.

Water(or liquids for that matter) is not wet though.
Sorry I digress, please continue.

Sorry, yes it is. 'Library' is specific Kontakt terminology, 'VI' is not. That's why Kontakt has a library browser, not a VI browser.

Tell me, does Kontakt come with a 'Factory Library' or with 'Factory VIs'

Do NI describe any of their products they make and sell which run on Kontakt, as 'virtual instruments?'

If not, why not?

Sounds like if a company had called them 'pelicans', you'd be arguing that that is what the term is. And that actual pelicans werent pelicans because they didnt run in Kontakt.
Yes they are, and no Kontakt isn't. Even NI does not refer to Kontakt as a VI, because it isn't, and all those companies making VIs that work in Kontakt do. Because they are. But if you want to keep living in some fantasy world where that isn't true, have fun.
Even NI dont refer to their Kontakt-data products as 'Virtual Instruments.'

In fact, only a tiny minority of companies call their Kontakt libraries 'Virtual Instruments' but I guess you're never going to get the irony there.
I was probably working with software professionally before you were pooping your diapers.
Well that would put you as one in the early 60's, then. And given the immaturity of your responses, it would appear dementia has set in; I guess you're spending an inordinate amount of your time pooping your diapers these days.

Which would all make sense.

Now I think it would be Falcon, with its quality and versatility, and when I get into using it regularly, the workflow if fine.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Same, coming from the fact it has pretty much every known synthesis type, dozens of filters, osc, ADSR types, and it's origin as a sampler with granular capabilities, plus the event processors with all the craziness there.
