Just spun up the Oddity demo for a quick compare against the Korg version. While the Korg could really benefit from a UI overhaul, that Type I filter on the Korg is unmatched in Oddity3 when it comes to just fatness and saturation. It's almost too brutal. I have no idea how accurate it is, but it's got a very cool sound and killer on basses. Otherwise, I could take or leave both of them TBH. The Vintage knob on the Oddity does help liven up poly sounds, as expected, but this wouldn't be my first, second, or third choice analog polysynth anyway.

I've read several people on different forums saying they're failing/almost failing blind tests with the original hardware vs Oddity3. It could be that the ARP isn't for you. Nothing wrong with that! I'll have to connect my iPhone to my computer again so I can play the Korg one against it.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Sun Nov 06, 2022 4:35 pm Just spun up the Oddity demo for a quick compare against the Korg version. I think it sounds great, and the polyphony and modulation options bring it forward in time. It also takes really well to 3rd party fx. So far I'm liking it more for pads/strings than for bass, but you can get some pretty good bass going and then use something like The Scream to distort it better than the built-in, and add a delay like Softube Tape Echoes to get the dotted 8th bounce.

Did you already demo the Korg Collection version? Just wondering why you'd fire up the phone versus demoing the Korg plugin on your computer.vitocorleone123 wrote: Sun Nov 06, 2022 5:09 pm I've read several people on different forums saying they're failing/almost failing blind tests with the original hardware vs Oddity3. But yeah, it's definitely not for me. I've had the Korg version for years and never actually used it in a project. I hate the interface of that synth with all the faders and toggle switches. I'd probably hate the hardware too and have zero interest in the Behringer clone. But I was kind of curious to see how the new Gforce version fared against the Korg plugin. I really love the G-Force OB-E so figured I'd give the new Oddity a shot just in case. Will pass on this. But I discovered I should probably load up the Korg version with the Type I filter for some simple, fat basses.

I think ARPs are one of the more black'n'white sounds that you either love or hate with not much in-between. I bought a Behringer 2600 and TBH have barely used it. Found I just didn't love it. I plan to make myself really get into it, as it's perfect for more off the wall sounds, especially sound FX but I can't get it to do everyday sounds that make me interested that much. Same with the real Oddysey in the past. Great for odd burbles and bleeps though. I have the Korg plugin and I'm the same...barely use it, though lovely filter. Anything GForce release is good IMO, though not necessarily to my taste, so I passed on this. 3 ARPs that I barely use would be too many.
TBH I'm my own worst enemy. I already know I don't like Moogs, never have, so I fail to understand why I thought I would like ARPs.

Yeah the type 1 filter in the korg is the best of all of them by far. It’s the original 12db, which on the oddity is actually the 4023, the bottom. I’ve seen some comparisons of the two like by starsky Carr where he compared the three filters in order but actually in oddity they are reversed. Unfortunately as the oddity manual states, they chose to reduce resonance in the 4023 because the other two self-oscillate (weird reason), but it loses too much oomph, like it has in the korg version.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Sun Nov 06, 2022 4:35 pm Just spun up the Oddity demo for a quick compare against the Korg version. Phone = I have tons of Korg instruments on iOS, including their ARP (for about 5 years+).Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Sun Nov 06, 2022 5:44 pmDid you already demo the Korg Collection version? I don't know that Oddity will become my favorite synth or anything, but, for example, I like it a LOT more than Repro5. So it's right in there, sonically, with the best of the current best.

Playing a note after changing the master tuning down to 432Hz crashes both current versions of Live 11 and Cubase 12.

G-force removed my following YouTube comment from their Oddity 3 Introduction video. Apparently, they don't appreciate constructive criticism or feedback on their YouTube channel. Note: All comments offering only universal praise remain intact there.
Deleted Youtube comment: "I am considering purchasing this (and likely will) because the sound is very impressive and I already own your impOSCar 2 and am considering buying your OB-E. You are a very good company, but you too often omit certain common QoL enhancements that other top developers tend to include as standard. A few areas for improvement for this Oddity 3:
1. There aren't nearly enough 'alpha' patches made available in trial mode to properly test run its full capabilities (this goes for your other synths also). Which almost makes the user suspicious that you might be trying to hide something, like perhaps the other presets which are unavailable to trial could be too CPU-heavy, or not as good?
2. Oddity 3 needs a 'Lock Parameter" feature, as most other top synths have available. Which would be very useful to maintain the polyphony and pitch bend values across presets.
3. Much of the GUI 'text' is very small and hard to read, even at full screen zoom settings. It would also be nice to have an 'anti-aliasing' text option, like u-he implements, which can help with text legibility issues.
BTW. I wish you would add some more QoL improvements to the preset browser for impOSCar 2. Like a forward / back button included/accessible within the preset menu. The current version only allows you access to forward/backward browse preset buttons while the preset menu is closed, which isn't ideal."

Agreed. I just had a YT comment removed from their Oddity 3 introduction video for suggesting the same thing.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Wed Nov 02, 2022 3:25 pm I do hope the improve the text. I think there is room for improvement, as shown here side by side the same size as the Korg Odyssey.

Another improvement suggestion would be the ability to either right-click or double-click a parameter to then type in a specific value. Since, the click + drag isn't always the most accurate way to enter specific values.

Unison on the Korg Collection one is nice, but... in every other way, including usability since I can actually read the text (esp. in MKII mode), I prefer the look and sound of Oddity3. More punch, the sound "feels" right, similar to their SEM.
