I had Oddity 2 and could only preview the alpha patches.

I was about to update to oddity 3 only to find out it requires Paypal for payment. No can do.

The demo period and demo patch limitation is really disappointing, as indicated by others. Is there a hack to reset the demo period? Or do I need to contact support for it?

At least on my Mac and with my paid version there is a hidden ".productkey" in user/Library/Application Support/Gforce/Oddity3 - I could think that maybe the demo is reset when you delete the file.

Thanks, but unfortunately, it did not work. I tried deleting various settings type of files from various folders, checked registry editor (Windows here), etc., but nothing worked.

I will message GForce support and see if they can help me. I will post here if I get a solution that's helpful to others as well.

Edit: Chuck it, just bought it. :tu:

Drastically limiting the available presets to potential customers in the demo version, is quite a ludicrous prospect in 2022. Perhaps, this was more common in the early 2000s, or such? But, it goes completely against the whole idea of offering trial demo versions, where you should be trying to impress people as much as possible, to earn their business and gain them as a new customer.

It's not rocket science, just look at how 99% of all other synth developers successfully operate.
Oh FFS. If you're angry because a synth demo doesn't provide enough presets, you need to seriously re-assess your priorities....you sound like a petulant, spoiled child demanding more ice cream from his parents. Get over it, they're just presets.
I m also a spoiled kid but can i have pancakes instead of icecream.
That makes me sound even more spoiled now. :D

No, seriously, releasing a synth demo with a limited set of presets seems to happen more and more. And here is the thing. If you expected the other presets to be of similar quality, it quite often turns out that a lot of their best presets were already in the selection. It s a bit like showcasing a car with leather seats on the photo, and when you see the car in full it turns out this only applies for the frontseats. It leaves a bit of a bitter taste in your mouth ( unlike pancakes). And presets are indeed the fastest/ easiest way to get a sense of what the synth can do.

I contacted them and you can use a credit card.
Sorry - I don't have the email response how to do it anymore.
The card still goes thru PP somehow.
It was way more of a hassle than it should have been though - took about 10 tries.

Having deleted my PayPal account because of the $2500 fine bollocks, I am finding the ways to use credt cards.

Basically whenever you have to pay via PayPal, then below the usual PayPal login page it says "Pay with Debit or Credit Card". Click on that, fill in your credit card details. Note that PayPal will usually try and have you create an account, so make sure any "Store credit card details" or "Create Account" type options are set to off before you click the pay button. Job done.

No, they tried to sneak in a clause that allowed them to fine any user $2500 if you posted any misinformation. Of course it's at PayPal's discretion to define misinformation. Personally I want financial services to deal with my money matters, not police my thoughts. They removed the new clause due to the backlash, but it transpires there's another similar clause that's been there from last year, so f 'em. I think they're a s**t service anyway.

Well, i nagged about the limited amount of demo patches.
I ve taken another look (and hear) and it's only fair to also state that i find the instrument very inspirational. Sound is really nice. So i m buying this puppy. Upgrade price is very nice.

The patches seem to go far beyond what you typically expect of a Odyssey. Well, they did enhance it with extra features. Will be fun digging into that.
I m mainly pleased with the pad sounds, so the polyphony is really interesting here. Almost sounds a bit like a CS-80 at times as e.g. in the Replicant Remorse patch (reference is obvious here). The synth can go very ambient but also quite aggressive or bass-heavy.

I agree. The pad/sustained sounds caught my attention right away. This synth just sounds so good imo.

Ah ok thanks.

Pretty shocked that a former Pete and El company would have done something shitty.

Pretty standard for a payment processor to not allow people to make false claims. But feel free to switch to a payment processor that allows counterfeit goods, fake charities, fake endorsed products (including fake medical endorsements and 'miracle cure' claims that endanger people), etc. For example, if a company sells 'phsyto pills' and says on social media they will cure xyz, Paypal needs a way to respond to those false claims. Without this sort of clause, as long as the company shipped the 'phsyto pills' then there would be nothing that Paypal could do under their standard TOS. With this clause, if companies are making false claims on social media for example about pills that endanger people Paypal can stop the product, seize revenue on shipped product that they can't seize without the clause.

Back to the topic, I too am super hesitant on Oddity 3 because of the limited presets. I keep coming back to it though so maybe I will just take the leap and get it.
