And you can get Super 8 for $50... 1/4 the price of PolyMax
If the other UAD synths are the reference, polymax will be on sale at some point.

I still don't think super 8 is as good
Is that a high sample rate in Reaktor, or standalone? I like super 8, but it's not as present sounding to me.

Just wanted to listen to this. What with the clicks and crackles (e.g. secs 11, 13, 27)? Is that the recording or is that the synth?

(or my monitoring... but I reliably get the same clicks at the same moments)

Ah, Youtube maybe. Sheesh.

Proper analog emulation of a badly soldered connection?

Nah, just Youtube I think. Happens when very bassy pads are very loud. Clipping of sorts.

Just caught me by surprise.

That's some pretty sharp hearing. :)

I hadn't noticed that. It's not in their other video though from what I can tell.

I guess I'm trying to convince myself to not demo it just yet...

Well... demoing it seems quite a pain, even for existing UAD owners. :hihi:

In case you missed above the dev shared some insights.

That insight is what sparked my interest :)

If you demo, make sure you have time to demo the other two synths, as well, since you only get one chance (once you demo the Spark platform, you can’t demo again, even when something new is released). FWIW, I personally find the other two synths to be more impressive than PolyMAX.

You'll have to build a Eurorack Uhe filter, so you can model it in software.

I demoed the Minimoog before and wasn't too impressed. Sounds gorgeous, but doesn't sound very realistic to me due to absence of the many little quircks and details that make a Minimoog a Minimoog for me.

I have an Apollo and no interest in trying thew subscription, so I guess I will miss out on the wavetable synth.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you have an Apollo you can buy the synths natively.

Only need to subscribe to demo... which has stopped me demoing PolyMax.

Opal is on 50% off sale currently. You can buy it outright if you have an Apollo. The GUI is perhaps a bit behind 'modern' wavetable synths in that is has a mod matrix on a separate page. However, it's actually pretty usable due to being well laid out.

Weird how you have to demo using the sub, even when having UAD hardware. According to UAD they are working on changing the system, but they gave no timeframe yet.

At least you can get Spark now for 3 months for 99 cents (Black Friday special). Pretty good deal for new customers.
