Oh we discussed adding filters in-depth in our team and had no clear outcome..DJ Warmonger wrote: Sat Nov 19, 2022 12:11 pm Awesome!
However, one vital feature of the scope is missing - freqency coloring or frequency band split. It is so much better to see where do low / high frequencies contribute, especially in drum loops or a full mix.
The problem with filters is that they alter the phase (unless you have linear-phase filters, but they add latency and have pre-ringing, which alters the wave too; not sure about FFT). In any case, what you'll see afterwards is not what you'd expect, it's not the "real" wave anymore.
On the other hand there's still some good value, you can well get an idea of when low frequency content or high frequency content happens, for example, and what it kinda looks like.
Our team was split in one group that wanted a filter (me) and another group that advocated to leave it out for now (everyone else).. if I recall correctly.
But yeah, we are really curious to see if more users miss a filter.

No, it's purely for analysis.

I feel the same way. Slightly disappointed by the update. Per shaper presets are a must imo.Artie5000 wrote: Sat Nov 19, 2022 12:31 am Was hoping this update would contain what I consider an absolute must and an obvious option, which is filtering presets to show only presets containing that shaper. If I’m clicking the dot to the right, selecting which shaper I’d like to see presets with, why on earth would it show me presets with that shaper and several more on top of it.
For example, if I click volume shaper, I’m looking to shape the volume, right? I opened it specifically to duck the bass or something like that, and want to see if any volume shaper presets would sound good. But with this new Shaperbox, it suggests presets containing volumeshaper, and then drive, noise, and phaser on top. To me, that makes absolutely no sense. Why even bother having a filter option? Am I crazy? This doesn’t have any use whatsoever.
This to me is just a preset device to smack on something and see what it craps out. Cableguys should really fix this in my opinion. I am extremely stoked on the changes they’ve made, and I bought it sight unseen when it came out. However, without this seemingly extremely basic feature, I haven’t switched from using shaperbox2 yet. It’s got my presets I’ve already made and it makes it easier to find new, PRACTICAL presets.
Hoping someone will tell me I’m completely blind, they added it to 3.1, and I missed how to do this.

We're working on that, but it's quite difficult to get right.. we could offer buttons to allow different filter options, but then we also want to keep a slick UI too. So we're working on that and will release a version with filter options, but we are trying and discussing 3-5 (!) prototypes for that, before we decide on one. Basically every feature goes through an intensive process before we publish it, so please bear with us for a little longer.JiggSaw wrote: Sat Nov 19, 2022 2:51 pm I feel the same way. X axis zoom would be useful in the oscilloscope. Especially after enabling freeze.

For me it is quite simple. I wouldn’t often use a preset at 100% wet. I don’t want to completely change my source so it becomes “the preset”. I want to subtly automate and massage the sound. The magic spot for me is usually around 20-30 percent.Jakob / Cableguys wrote: Sat Nov 19, 2022 1:10 pmI can definitely see the need for it in let's say a Reverb plugin, but in ShaperBox presets are so manifold, that I wonder if it might be quite confusing.
But yes, it'd definitely be useful if you limit your browsing category; for example on browsing ducking presets and you already know that you only want a small amount of ducking; distortion presets if you only want a small amount of distortion..
But we also want to keep the UI streamlined. So I am not sure if the use cases justify making the UI more complicated; also for some presets a non-100%-Mix would give unexpected results (think of scratching presets for example or presets that already have only a small Drive or Noise amount that will then be barely audible).
Maybe if we add a global locking system, and Mix would be one of the options.. hmmm
But if something seems useful, we usually want to add it. Could you let me know why you need this feature? It seems valuable for me in a Reverb plugin for example, or in same cases for ShaperBox too, but for me it's only a small fraction of use cases that would benefit from it
As is I have to load every preset and then change to my ballpark mix amount each time.
Agreed some presets are subtler and may work full on but that is rare.

If you sync presets in ShaperBox 3, you will now also get your own ShaperBox 1 and ShaperBox 2 presets - if our server knows them. So if you're missing presets, please open ShaperBox 1 or 2 once and hit the Sync button there. Then open ShaperBox 3 and click the Sync button in the top bar.museelectro wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2022 7:31 am Updated because it looks very interesting. But hard awake. Only 1 preset is available in the preset cloud, and I can't find any advice in the documentation. So, I think some modules are not compatible and therefore they do not pop up.
These presets will be prefixed with "SB1" or "SB2", and if you delete them in ShaperBox 3, they will still remain visible in ShaperBox 1 or 2.

If going online to sync noises just once is not an option for you, then you can only use the white noise in NoiseShaper.Kr3eM wrote: Sun Nov 20, 2022 10:03 pmHas this been answered/given a solution?e@rs wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 6:11 pmHow can I do that if my machine is offline? ...Lee / Cableguys wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 3:19 pm You can download the noises once, and then it will not ask you again.

Any chance to get the factory presets of SB2 also to SB3? In SB2, I have 193 pages à 14 presets, in SB3, there are just 639 presets, which is much lessJakob / Cableguys wrote: Sun Nov 20, 2022 5:31 pmIf you sync presets in ShaperBox 3, you will now also get your own ShaperBox 1 and ShaperBox 2 presets - if our server knows them. Even if I paid for it, I gave up on the idea of using Noise at full potential, you being so stubborn on allowing an offline download of the noises.Jakob / Cableguys wrote: Mon Nov 21, 2022 8:30 am If going online to sync noises just once is not an option for you, then you can only use the white noise in NoiseShaper.
But for the love of God, please make that 'download noises' message that keeps showing up every 24 hours go away; it doesn't only drive me nuts, it also corrodes my Cableguys love.

Indeed, disabling the notification is something we could definitely easily do, I'll add this to our planning, thanks for the suggestion!e@rs wrote: Mon Nov 21, 2022 9:44 am But for the love of God, please make that 'download noises' message that keeps showing up every 24 hours go away; it doesn't only drive me nuts, it also corrodes my Cableguys love.

We’ve put a great deal of time and effort into curating the ShaperBox 3 preset library. We’ve improved presets ported over from ShaperBox 2, and have ultimately gone for quality over quantity. We found that only a small number of users were using the community features in ShaperBox 2, so we elected to start again, in order to bring it down to a more manageable size, and to capitalise fully on the new features of the updated Shapers.SamDi wrote: Mon Nov 21, 2022 9:36 amAny chance to get the factory presets of SB2 also to SB3? But: If there's some preset that you really like in ShaperBox 2, you can open it in ShaperBox 2 and save it as your own (if it does not allow you to save it and says "It's already in the Library", then simply make a super-tiny change somewhere in the preset and save it then). Then sync. Afterwards open ShaperBox 3 and sync there, and this preset will pop up under your own presets.
Having said that, we might introduce a "Legacy" section of presets. We're currently discussing this.. I did not expect any users to care about this amount of presets, but I was quite wrong.
