This was a nice surprise on the "synth" selection for OSC this month. Really enjoyed working on this track. My entry for this month was made using 31 instances of the BBC Symphonic Orchestra using REAPER 6.67. I took the opportunity to play with different tempos; something I never do on electronic stuff. I left the panning as-is, mimicking a real orchestra.

Hope you enjoy it!

Here is my entry for the November competition: Magic Forest
This is actually my first own classical composition. So I had to study and try out some techniques, including parallel chords, polychords, pedal tones, mediants, call and response, tempo changes and intuitive, rather simple counterpoints.

But honestly, it was incredible fun. The samples are so good. There is no sub rumble, no mud, clearly defined frequency responses and the automation of expression works flawlessly.

The piece is written in a somewhat upbeat major key, but is also meant to be punctuated by some tension. I used Reaper for the implementation. There are 15 instrument channels (no layering) and 3 more channels used for fine tuning. The stereo distribution remained as given. I didn't use any commercial effects and actually hardly needed anything else. In the end I only used a subtle echo for the last note. For overall volume there is a limiter and glue compressor, a spectrometer and a volume meter.

... i am not sure what kind of "modulation" is allowed ... here is a preview with a "howling voice". It is made with a envelope on pitch ... can you let it pass like that?

@marks-a-whybikky -- any parameter automation is allowed, basically. If you're modifying the audio after it leaves the synth, that would not be allowed. If you're just modifying the parameters of the synth, that should be fine.

Thanks Z.PRIME! then i can do more nonsense and noise ... I hope I can finish in time this time

Thanks, J! Loads more I'll want to add... we shall see! :)
Almost forgot to ask, have you made one, yet, or are still planning to? I haven't checked through the thread here, yet.

Post

@Taron, I haven't posted one yet. Not sure if I'll get something completed. We'll see.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Somehow I can imagine it will bring out of you something amazing...as anything does. 8)

12 instances of Spitfires excellent BBC Symphony Orchestra Plug-in Instrument. Scored in Bitwig Studio 4.4. One mix reverb and a couple of tool devices are used, that's it. Enjoy!
This is a masterpiece.

Been a long long time. I still remember quite a few of you. When I saw the "synth" this month, I couldn't resist. I wouldn't have to make a bass and snare drum out of a sine wave! This was made with 30 instances, lots of EQ, some light reverb and 1 commercial plug-in: Waves Abbey road Saturator. This was right in my wheel house. https://soundcloud.com/singplumb/march- ... al_sharing

Quick question - anyone knows if it's possible to reduce the amount of built-in reverb in the instruments of BBCSO? I find it hard to get "dry" sounds... (yes, it sounds gorgeous, but I need to control the reverb myself)
