I think he's so cranky because of his original thread here being constantly trolled by a certain person (q.v. above). It appears the same is going on on Facebook as well.gExpectations wrote: Mon Nov 21, 2022 1:39 pm id rather have the dev be a dick if the codebase is great. when i demoed it seemed the most performant and best laid out synth ive used. its 50% off now.
The dev has been apparently working on some stuff for Nexus and has been preoccupied elsewhere. The latest extension came out 10/21, so it hasn't been 2 years with no updates.
Anyway, with VST3 support on board, I'm in.
Now, for a CLAP version... just in case.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

The same issue for me on Intel MacOS 11.6.7 on a 4k screen. The issue disappears if you disable GPU rendering. Im sure they will fix it soon.

From their twitter:
"The next major update is 1.9. and will add advanced modulation features. Mapping curves for example and other stuff. It's will be pretty extensive so it still takes a while."

I went and bought it. Not sure what Parawave is doing but somehow the formant filters and general sound are aggressive in a way that I can't seem to get from other synths. And I've tended to think that perceptions about 'sound quality' tend to be driven in large by placebo effects, but Rapid seems to default to 'cutting', clean and hi-fi. The chorus sounds really good.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Is this an older tweet? I don't see it amongst their most recent tweets.HydrogenHuman wrote: Mon Nov 21, 2022 6:56 pm From their twitter:

It's from the tweet they sent out yesterday regarding the VST3 update. They replied to a comment. https://twitter.com/ParawaveAudio/statu ... The whole effect suite in Rapid is stellar. Check that reverb, especially the Solar mode, sounds fantastic.chagzuki wrote: Mon Nov 21, 2022 7:15 pm I went and bought it. The granular synthesis algos are solid and sound really good as well. Such a monster (and sometimes overlooked) synth. Very glad it's been updated and still maintained.

I still think Rapid is one of the most underrated and under discussed synths, never really understood why more people don't rave about Raid. There seems to be something about companies who just have 1 product (like Spire) were the updates are slow (you would think it would be the opposite with just one product) but irrespective, great sounding feature rich and nice looking synth that really isn't missing very much at all...everything is just a bonus from here as far as I am concerned and every update to Rapid has been free (there have been a lot of updates since it was launched). I don't see to many other VST makers giving an update roadmap for their Synths...
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!
