Tracktion on OSX

Hi All,
I have been getting to know Tracktion for about two weeks now (NFR version). At this point, I'm nearly ready to start using it for commercial projects. But before I take the plunge, I'm hoping to get some feedback from other Mac users. Has Tracktion proven to be stable/reliable on OSX? I would appreciate hearing about any Mac experiences out there. Thanks.
OSX 10.2.8, 1 ghz Ti-book, 786 mb RAM

yeahhh, pretty stable here. A few quirks that don't seem to affect the PC version, as well as the lack of the supply of the mastering suite for OSX users, despite promising it "soon" months ago...
so...It's good, effecient, stable. Excellent rewire host, good audio (again a few rendering quirks and an inability to open files with an external editor). Midi is less well developed, but that's Tracktion regardless of platform. Mac development does seem to be slower/less heeded than PC, but hey...for free, it's marvelous.

i'm on a dual processor g5, and i have regular crashes in fact. The good thing is that tracktion always makes a backup before shutting itself down, so if you just reopen it right after crashing you don't loose anything (most of the time).
OSX support sucks though i think...
But hey, it's still great software! I love the workflow (ok i'll stop here) etc.

Regular crashes Panda?
Have you ever sent away any of your logs to tech support at Mackie? I would like to see what is going on. Things are fine on my powerbook.

Hey sixnon, I think you scared Beno away! It's good to hear that Tracktion has been pretty stable for you. Can you say specifically what quirks you have encountered? Sounds like they haven't been serious enough to prevent you from using it.
Panda, I also like the workflow. Have you determined under what circumstances you are crashing?
I'll also take this opportunity to thank Jules and Mackie for making the NFR available. I have recommended it three people so far!
Any other Mac users out there?

Quite regular crashes in fact, but i haven't a clue about what exactly causes them. Probability rises definately with CPU load, but sometimes it crashes with almost nothing running, sometimes i max it out completely and still doesn't crash...
It often happens when i hit the record button or when i save an edit.
Most often it happens for seemingly no reason though, you just suddenly get the osx turning ball, and after a minute or two: crash (that's what happens on the saving crashes too).
The software i use is NI Komplete 2, Tracktion, DSP Quattro and very rarely Reason Adapted and Live Delta (bundle i got with my soundcard but it's really not the kind of software i can use for my music).
Never sent a log to tech support cause the mac's not connected to the internet, but i'll send over one soon if you think that could help, Beno...

Yeah, next time you crash, before you open Tracktion again, go to (your home folder)/Library/Logs/ and make a copy of TracktionLog.txt
Send it in an email to techmail@mackie.com. Mention that I asked you to send it and describe what you were doing when you crashed. They'll forward it in my direction. If it happens regularly, but under different circumstances, it would be best to collect a log for each type of crash you've seen. Hopefully the logs will help us figure out what is going on.
Thanks,
Ben

There used to be a slew of G5 problem posts on the coreaudio listserv. Make sure you are up to date on your patches.

No problems with my G4. I recommended it to 6 other people, 5 of whom are the other members of my band so we can swap ideas in progress between practices.
Coffee please, black, no sugar.

Beno, I will also send a log next time I crash. So far, my crashes have happened only during my so called "torture tests" (one time, I was building a modular synth inside of a rack and modifying the patch cords while a sequence was playing . . . see why I like this program?). Are there any confirmed key (or mouse) sequences, plugins, or otherwise, that can affect stability on a Mac? I simply want to know what I'm getting myself into . . . and if they're small issues, try to avoid them. Thanks again.

Beno, given we're inhabiting the same thread so to speak, could you please respond to my query....if only to say "no word".
It'd be polite
thanks

Pasam, there's a cursor scroll bug in OSX...you could do a forum search to read more about it. It's not a critical thing, but annoying. Tracktion's backup saving mechanism works very well, so even if you do have a crash, you've usually got the whole thing saved anyway...
I've gotta fly, I'll be more detailed later..
