$79 for me (since i'm new to it), $49 to upgrade... seems reasonable.kevvvvv wrote: Tue Nov 22, 2022 4:23 pm No that's right. Each to their own.
Here's the old spec they're still selling at £70

It'll be interesting to see what the offer is when V2 comes out in a few days, but I'm not holding my breath for a new synth in a KVR world that already has a whopping 35 pages of softsynths to browse.
Vanguard2 by Refx out 25th of November!

Demo video sounds nice....but not unique in any way. I have an ancient Vanguard 1 license somewhere but no longer have an ReFX account so probably don't qualify for the upgrade price. I remember that dealing with them was rather unpleasant back in the day so I doubt contacting them would change anything. Not sure it's worth digging around on old hard drives looking for my V1 license.
Back in the day Vanguard 1 was relevant but with synths like Hive 2, Spire, VPS Avenger, Rapid, Dune 3, Predator 3, Warlock, etc, etc, in my plugin folder these days I doubt Vanguard 2 would be worth much more than a brief blast of nostalgia.
A three Osc synth with a single filter hardly holds my interest these days.

just a thought.... purchased V2 yesterday and it was causing Live to hang, contacted reFX support and they were absolutely brilliant, within 8 hours a fix was published. I've never experienced that kind of speed and excellence. Normally it's 1. something you've done 2. someone else's software 3. we'll fix it somewhen.
If you want value for money personified reFX certainly is worth a thought.

I've not heard any sounds from VPS Avenger that would qualify it as better than the Virus.kevvvvv wrote: Tue Nov 22, 2022 4:13 pm
The real inheritor of Vanguard is VPS Avenger, which afaik completed the project that Vanguard began, ie, be a Virus but be better.

Well I have to give credit where credit is due. I found my ancient Vanguard 1 reg codes and sent an email to support asking if I would qualify for the upgrade price.
I did not expect to receive a positive response since I had some rather unpleasant dealings with them (Mike in particular) years ago but to my surprise they merged my old account which I had long forgotten about with a new one I just created today and I did qualify for the upgrade price.
The response was lightening fast and much to my surprise was very pleasant and professional.
So even though I don't really need Vanguard 2, the upgrade deal was in impulse buy territory so I went ahead and purchased it just as a reward for the great (and polite) service I received.
I'm so impressed with their change in attitude I may even put Nexus on my radar in the future.
So I'm off to install Vanguard 2 now.........

I’m sure they’re playing to peoples nostalgia. I remember saving up for and buying this and Slynth1 almost 20 years ago lol.kevvvvv wrote: Tue Nov 22, 2022 4:13 pm It's interesting how people defend the need for this ancient softsynth.
I was digging through my emails looking for my license or account info and saw an old Twitter email from 2013 where me and a “Mike” kinda got into it a bit when I was complaining abt the lack of 64-bit support lol. People complaining and arguing on Twitter, shocking lol.Teksonik wrote: Tue Nov 22, 2022 6:10 pmI did not expect to receive a positive response since I had some rather unpleasant dealings with them (Mike in particular)

Considering I paid the princely sum if $39 for my copy of Vanguard the First, this is an outrage!fisherKing wrote: Tue Nov 22, 2022 4:28 pm$79 for me (since i'm new to it), $49 to upgrade... seems reasonable.kevvvvv wrote: Tue Nov 22, 2022 4:23 pm No that's right. Each to their own.

I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

I require at minimum 30,000 presets. I like spending as much time as possible to find a sound.

a synth with less that 10,000 variations on a supersaw is no synth at all...briefcasemanx wrote: Tue Nov 22, 2022 7:29 pm I require at mine mum 30,000 presets. I like spending as much time as possible to find a sound.
