Exactly what we needed just after Arturia released their updated CS-80.
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

It's as if you know what people are going to post before they post it. Probably before they've even demoed it properly as well
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

This is quite different from the Arturia. It's dual layer (so four ranks instead of two). It has a model of the GX-1 filter, which is different from the CS-80. Other things like inverse filter envelopes, stereo panning, etc.AdvancedFollower wrote: Tue Nov 22, 2022 8:02 pm Exactly what we needed just after Arturia released their updated CS-80.

I don't have either VST(Arturia Or Cherry Audio)...but I demo'd both....can't decide, but I may need both, eventually.
The strong points of the CA GX-80, is it's number of presets & unique array of new presets by various sound designers & of course, it's very low price(but the GUI is terrible, I must admit.) Also...as usual, serious CPU-issues.
Whereas Arturia's CS-80 V4's strong points are it's overall stunning sound quality with zero CPU-issues and incredibly sharp, vibrant, flexible and feature-rich GUI(definitely worth the extra $90!)
Actually...come to think of it, I just may buy the Arturia first and wait for a future update for Cherry Audio's GX-80((plus...I need to wait to get my main PC up & running, so that it can handle the heavy CPU load of CA's VST's)
I am really quite disgusted with CA's CPU-intensive synths and I wonder if it is really worthwhile(despite their really low pricing?)

Did Mark Barton got hold of a gx1 to analyse ?
I guess not .
I guess this means they analyzed and verified against CS-80's but not a GX-1. Maybe Cherry Audio can clarify."As soon as we found something we thought strange, we immediately verified the behavior on both CS-80s we used for modeling. We then did a deep dive into the schematics to verify why we were hearing what we were hearing."

Does the Arturia have a way of simulating polyphonic aftertouch? This is the most compelling feature for me, the thing that set the CS-80 apart from other analogs.AdvancedFollower wrote: Tue Nov 22, 2022 8:02 pm Exactly what we needed just after Arturia released their updated CS-80.

I wish that every synth I owned including Repro was even more CPU hungry.

This caught my eye as well. Very clever hack to get polyphonic response from channel pressure. I'm amazed no one has thought of this before.Uncle E wrote: Tue Nov 22, 2022 8:26 pmDoes the Arturia have a way of simulating polyphonic aftertouch? I have a Hydrasynth Deluxe, so I don't need it, but still. It's so simple, but brilliant.

We shall see orchestral machines with a thousand new sounds, with thousands of new euphonies, as opposed to the present day's simple sounds of strings, brass, and woodwinds. -- George Antheil, circa 1925 ---

Kind of pointless going on with the Aliasing thing, as we already know that Cherry Audio stuff usually runs at 48kHz internally.
