How many people have left studio one ? Still on v5 , v6 was gifted to me, still haven’t upgraded yet. See no real reason to until they update the browser n give it some life. V5 works great

Again with the browser. WTF is wrong with it? To me it seems to do everything I might want or expect from a browser. What am I missing here?

I reckon that's probably exactly why I like it so much. It's certainly what i liked about Orion, the mixer-centric approach just makes sense to me because that's how I worked with hardware for 20-odd years before software. Not just in a studio but also at home - you had synths to make the sounds, a sequencer to build your arrangement and a mixer to pull it all together and add effects. After I bought a Korg M1 I could do it all on one box but it still felt right to treat those processes more or less separately.

Ah, my bad. I forgot about that. At least there's that. I think after a while, I got tired of the plugins only seeming to crash Studio One. Honestly, I am glad if Studio One is running really stable for others, but as far as my personal experience is concerned, they were running quite stable in other DAWs. I guess you just have to say everyone's machine is different.

The default separation was not that bad for me. I think it opens up a lot of flexibility. This is one area I think Studio One gets a lot of weird flak for, because it's hardly the most egregious "offender" of over-compartmentalization (Hello, FL Studio). I think FL gets away with it because its identity is kind of tied up in its quirkiness, whereas Studio One purports to be a "normal" DAW.

Seems to be a common scheme these days... attract new customers, but keep the price high for existing ones.

Not that I want to complain, I'm not interested in upgrading my S1 4.6 anyway.

Have checked the site. They didn't have anything BF worth mentioning. I'm still on S1 v4.6 right now (since v1, btw)The changes from 4.6 to 6 are miserable. f**k you Presonus.

I think the changes are fine, I just don't think $149 is a reasonable price for any upgrade and what it has done is to push me to Artist, which means it ultimately hurts Presonus's bottom line. At $79 I wouldn't even have looked at what was in the upgrade and at $99 I'd have looked, then upgraded anyway. But at $149 I need to see value and I just can't here.

For me, I had demoed Studio One for doing a collaboration with somebody, and really enjoyed it. My DAW had gotten really long in the tooth (Cubase 4!) and I decided to move to a more recent host, and was likely set on Studio One. But the recent sale for Cubase 12, along with Steinberg's regional pricing, made it too tempting to resist.

So I guess my answer would be a combination of the price and familiarity with another DAW. I found Studio One to be more intuitive in some places, and less intuitive in others, so I didn't feel like I was missing a whole lot by choosing Cubase over it. But I do feel like if I had to switch to Studio One, I'd probably be able to get used to it fairly easily.

Other than the price, I think what would probably have pushed me more towards going with Studio One is if it had Ableton Live or Logic-level native plugins, so that I could use mostly native plugins over third party to simplify my workflow. I thought the native plugins were fine, but not at that level of expansiveness or quality that would make me a customer.

Why did you leave Studio One?
